Your composition and perspective are really straight forward. As you seem to be approaching this from scratch instead of basing it on a plate or render, I would recommend you to punch in closer and make shot #7 out of this.
Totally up to you but when I saw your sketch it was screaming for it, in my opinion at least.

i´m starting to understand shot #7 now. When i was looking at my piece i thought it would look better from an angular perspective and more wide angle.
The piece you showed me is exactly that! It´s kind of hard not to copy it now and all the detail in the closer shot could break my neck but i think i´ll give #7 a shot now. Thanks for recommending this.

Finding inspiration is not the same as ripping off another person’s work 
let it guide you, rather than struggle trying to avoid copying it
what you’re ultimately after is a certain feel
Really love the amount of detail you’ve put into the architecture here, especially at the top of the structure. It has a nice break up of materials and this really adds interest to the area.
One thing I think though that could benefit your piece, is a darker foreground. This might help break up the ground gradient, and allow your focal point to be the main interest of your piece. Also increasing the intensity of the lights in your structure can help draw attention there.
Actually i’m about to add a lot more detail to the whole building. Will definitely take your advice concerning the lights and the foreground.
I’m a bit unsure about the perspective… don’t know how this could happen. Is it ok like that or are there weird things going on i don’t see? :banghead:
Hi Jannis, looking good so far.
Maybe worth tweaking the perspective a little - at the moment it feels like everything is being pulled towards the top left of the image. I think the feeling isn’t helped by the planet in the background creating an arc that also leads there - would it maybe be worth adjusting the planet a little to reduce the effect?

Ive enjoyed reading some of your critiques here, so wanted to return the favor
Your paintings really nice. I especially like the overall composition and interesting silhouettes, and youve done a good job with the rock and metallic structures and their textures. But I do agree with what Derek Jackson said on 2-18-2015 about the perspective; to me it looks a little exaggerated. Im on the fence about it though, since it gives the painting a nice wide-angle lens look. Just doesnt seem consistent with the metal structure on the right, which might be why it feels slightly off.
Definitely a strong piece though and I like it.

@Thad: you´re totally right with the perspective. In the end it was too late to change things cause…you know… :argh: the time was running out so i just forced myself to imagine the main building was leaning back haha! This way i was able to go on with my strange wide angle view. without feeling too bad.
