Favorite Figurative Artists - Links

#21

One of my favorite book illustrators most people know from his concept art and illustrations for the LotR. Not his best work imo. He is at his best illustrating strange and dark ancient tales like the Mabinogion. One of the best watercolorists I have ever seen ( oh…I wish, I wish, such a difficult medium!)

I came across this site the other day: The Art Renewal Center and it is definately worth a look (esp. if you’re a fan of the pre-raphaelites).

Margie, I agree Lee is a master and his work is an inspiration!

CARAVAGGIO

Thanks for that link, Marlon! It gave me the idea to do a Master Copy Workshop for the next OFDW. Hope you’ll join in! :bounce:

Good to see you here!

Hi …Rebecca…
I think that this thread should be a permanent fixture on the front page of this forum…
It’s kind of like the public library…
Right now, the way it is set up, it keeps slipping into the back pages, where it just gathers
dust. It should be up front and center, so new people and everyone else can be aware of
it more easily…just a suggestion, and my opinion…

Stuck!

Good suggestion…now I just have to decide what to UnStick…

#29

Aaargh, decisions, decisions… I’m glad I’m not you :stuck_out_tongue:

#30

LOL… …THANK YOU …REBECCA…

SORT… CATAGORIZE… and CONSOLIDATE…

Personal anatomy threads could be all together in one group or folder ect.
Just me trying to be of some help …:buttrock:

Actually, it is time the cgtalk-gods got that forum levelled up (followed by all that nice stuff like subforums and the like), if you ask me.

This area explodes with activity and “action must be taken” to keep it focused without sacrificing wonderful sources of knowledge (like this here, I mean, we’re not supposed to swallow all of this information in one go, are we?gulp)

Any news on this, btw?

What? Nobody loves Rob Liefeld and his ability to make up muscle groups that don’t exist or abandon the use of proportion altogether?

For shame CG talk.

This is my fave out of all the pin-up mixed with fantasy /darkfantasy stuff.

I don’t like his earlier colorfull works, but all paintings that were made with brownish, greyish hues, sometimes nearly monochromatic looking are really great. especially the tattoo- and chains-series, and a whole buch of his other paintings.

Luis Royo

and here’s another link with lots of artworks

Finally, Kromodikoro boy! I love your gallery, esp. the pirate with that cool broadsword!

Will be keeping an eye on it and you need to make it more prominent in your sig!

Glad you like it Theresa!

Heheh… it’s not finished yet… :scream:
on second thought, it’ll never be finished :scream:
I’ll try to update it as often as I can (every week?), trying to refresh stuff with better stuff :scream:
When it’s ready, I’ll make it (a bit) more prominent
