Favorite Figurative Artists - Links

#1

Guys / Gals,

Here please post links to your Favorite Figurative Artists. I should have posted this thread sooner, but...

What I would suggest is to create your own post, and then just ADD TO THAT POST as you discover / find more links (vs. creating several more posts).

Go ahead and post links, even if you see the same ARTIST mentioned ~ you may have found a new or better site for that artist! :)

Thanks to Spirit Dreamer for jogging my memory! :)

 Cheers,

Spiritdreamer- Rob’s work is real nice. I like his work on the bond films. I have a lot of his stuff on a cd.

here is someone I discovered today.
Ah Yuan

His work has that painterly quality to it.

Here are the best links I’ve got.

You can find just about all the old school masters at http://www.artrenewal.org/
Nice place to go if you want to take a trip through art history although the navigation is a little clunky.

And no list would be complete without Frank Frazetta…

Here are a few of my favorite artists from the golden age of illustration:
Heinrich Kley
Willy Pogany
W. Heath Robinson
W. R. Flint also his official site

the above links are to the biographies at Bud Plant Illustrated Books http://www.bpib.com/illustra.htm which is a good reference to learn about illustrators (although it’s aimed at book collectors more than artists).

I also like the work of Richard Schmid and Jeffrey Jones

And some of the Victorian painters:
Frank Brangwyn
Robert Anning Bell (who was also an amazing illustrator)
John William Waterhouse
Lord Frederick Leighton
Herbert James Draper

Last (but not least!) Robert Henri

Nice thread Rebecca. Too many to list. It seems that some have already been mentioned. Sargent, Nerdrum, etc. I’ll try not to list any old masters if I can help it.

Pierre-Paul Prud’Hon (1758 - 1823)
http://www.artrenewal.org/asp/database/art.asp?aid=391&page=1 (very slow loading site)

Egon Schiele (1890 - 1918)
http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/schiele/

I’m sure most of you are familiar with Artrenewal.org. As well as the old masters, go check out their Living Masters gallery section.

Jacob Collins
