FAQ : What is Keyshot?

#1

If you’re new to Keyshot/Zbrush, this thread should help you get some simple information to get you started.
Feel free to ask questions or add to the thread !

Computer rendering is the process of generating an image with the help of a computer application. KeyShot is an interactive computer-rendering application for Mac and PC that allows you to import your 3D models and create beautiful photo-realistic images in minutes.

KeyShot runs on CPU-processing power. Thus, you can achieve photographic quality even on the simplest laptops (no special graphics card required). You can change materials, adjust lighting and position your camera in real-time faster than ever before.

COMPUTER SPECS

Processor (CPU)The processor is the only hardware component that has an effect on render performance. For optimal performance, consider processors with high core counts. Intel i7 and Intel Xeon processors (except for Xeon Phi) will work great. The higher the number of cores the better. Core count takes precedence over clock speed (Hz).Memory (RAM)
Your computer should have enough RAM to load all of the polys/triangles in your CAD files. Normally, 8GB of RAM is enough to load your CAD files, work in KeyShot, and multi-task with other applications.

Graphics Card (GPU)
Any graphics card that runs Open GL 2.0 or later will work great with KeyShot.*

*KeyShot does NOT make use of the graphics card for rendering. Thus, the graphics card has no effect on KeyShot’s performance.

IMPROVE KEYSHOT RENDERING SPEED

KeyShot is 100% CPU-powered and it will use 100% of your CPU’s processing power. The more processor cores, the faster the render engine. Factors that affect speed include:

Your computer’s processing power
Lighting settings
Image resolution
Interface preferences
Import file size

2 problems. I have a normal and a depth pass

How do i use the normal pass to relight in gimp?

How do i use the depth pass for motion blur in gimp? And is there any other things one can do with the depth pass?
