"Failed to export." (pov-ray export, uv mapping)

I keep getting this message when I try to uv map either just a few faces or a few bodies of my model. Do you have to uv map everything in a file to be able to export properly? I’m trying to export to Pov-ray.

And I did try uv mapping the entire controller (figuring I could change the textures later in pov) but I got an error message like “There was a problem with numbering” or something similar.

Does anyone know a workaround? Or is this just a bug in the pov-ray export plugin?

In my experience with that exporter, every face on a body should be mapped, but not all bodies have to be mapped. So you can mix mapped and unmapped bodies but you can’t successfully export partially mapped bodies.

Was that error in povray or in Wings? I haven’t run across that before. I’ve used the povray exporter successfully with reasonably large, complicated, multi-body meshes, so maybe there is something in the geometry it does not like. Possible option: export all the bodies you can without Wings producing an error. Find the body that is causing the error by a process of elimination. Then examine that geometry carefully for errors/try using the cleanup options in the body menu. I have had the exporter crash before, but only when there has been a problem with a mesh.

Yeah that was an error in wings.

Thanks for the tip though. I’ll see what I can do now.
