How come some Fact files are saved with no data in them (especially from Modeler)? Sometimes, you select the model and export it as Fact again and it works, but sometimes it doesn’t. It’s a crap shoot! I know, I should stop using Modeler, but it’s my favorite NURBs modeler and really easy to use (I should just get Rhino).
Fact Files
Thanks, that’s what I used too, but it’s just frustrating when it doesn’t work from their own program with their own format. I should stop complaining and use something that works.
Sometimes what happens to me is that I have ‘selected’ and ‘visible’ as criteria for export and I deselect without noticing just before saving. This will produce the ‘No geometry in file.’ warning when trying to open in Animator.
Otherwise it seems to work fine.
I had actually selected everything I wanted exported (just-in-case). No such luck. I’ll try another way. It’s always frustrating when you’re creating on a roll and then a technical setback slows progress. I’ll figure it out eventually.
I’ve found that when you select it with the arrow tool, then it exports properly, but not when you select it with the translation tool
I just find it amazing that with so many new modelling apps released since EIM first came out that so many people continue to use it.
(Well, maybe it’s not a lot of people).
But for something this long in the tooth it still seems to have a core of dedicated users, which to my mind is testimony as to how good the core program is!
I know I keep going into other programs and almost always end up saying in my head 'Why is this so complicated? EIM does it so much more elegantly.
I keep waiting and hoping that the entity formerly known as Tesla will eventually surface and be as good as the original should have been.
I just found out what the problem was! In preferences I had export as separate and changed it to export in groups and it worked. I thought it should work both ways, but must have been tired. Everyone, thank you for your assistance! It was very valuable.
