facial rigging approach

I’m a newbie to rigging and recently hav completed rigging one of my characters… now I’m up to skin it… my doubt is, that after completing the skinning process for the whole body (excluding face), how shud i move ahead for my facial setup???
i’m thinking of going for the blendshape approach rather than goin for the “bones” option… so do i have to take the complete duplicated body for the building the blendshapes? how can i just rig my head and then attach it to my body setup?
this may have been asked here many times before, but hope u guys wont mind answering it again… thanx in advance…
