I’m participating to the Thrust Challenge with a 3D fighter, the F/A-135 Thunderstorm II.
Background story: The United Earth Nations (UEN) was created after a long and devastating World War 3 in 2047. Following the principles of UN, the main purpose of this intergovernemental organization was to maintain peace, promote Human rights and solving economic or social international problems. After numerous tensions, in 2050, UEN became the unique leading entity in order to avoid a new conflict between survivors States. Under a single flag and government, all States began to gather ressources for space exploration. In 2057, the first vaste human colony on the Moon was set, and shortly after, 5 more on Venus, Mars, Europa, Titan and Triton were created. In 2117, the rise of terrorism and piracy in outer colonies forced the UEN to create an armed force to respond to these threats.
My fighter will share many technical points with actual jet fighters: I want it to be an evolution of the 5th generation jet fighters as my universe is not so far from today, with the difference that my fighters will be able to fly in atmosphere and navigate in space. I try to keep my work as realistic as possible without forgetting to add some scifi-y details of course.
