Extrude edges as in 3dsMax


How to do this in Blender:


Use Control + B. This does a Bevel and just move your mouse until the desired result is shown.


Or as an alternative; add a bevel modifer and set it’s limit method to weight. Select the target edges and use the edge menu (CTRL + E) to set the bevel weight.

My suggestion is to set the edge bevel weight to 1.0 and use the modifer width to control the size of the bevel (although note that the weight is for each edge so you can achieve multiple bevel sizes with the one modifier if desired).
