Extrude Along Screen

When extruding an edge, there seem to be two options in terms of orientation: extruding along the edge normal, or along the world coordinates. What I’m trying to figure out is a way to extrude based on the current screen view. In other words, I’d like to have the extrude gizmo oriented directly at the current viewing angle, so I can extrude based on where I’m looking at the object. In 3DS Max, this is called extruding in screen mode. Is there a way to do this in Maya?
I tried to go into pivot mode when in the extrude tool, but there is no option to rotate the gizmo, only to move it around.

i guess this is what you are looking for.
Moving/dragging with the middle square will move your thing based on the screen plan.

And for the quick extrude (like in the gif below) hold shift and drag from the middle. (also for this option you might want to check if it’s activated in your tool settings
