extracting hard edge id's

#1

I take models back and forth between wings and XSI frequently… XSI uses hard edges much like wings does (most programs may but I don’t have the exposure) and it drives me nuts that I have to select and set the hard edges over and over as I go back and forth.

I guess that the .obj format cannot carry this info, or at least neither packages implement it in their exporter. What I am looking for is a way to extract the id’s of the edges that I have defined in wings to a .txt file that I could utilize in a script in XSI… it would be nice to be able to go the other way as well, but until scripting is developed into the wings workflow (or if it is I am not aware of it) I will not worry about the XSI to Wings transfer.

Any thoughts guys?

Hmmm…

No comment, well I haven’t gotten very deep into researching it, but tonight I intend to. I went ahead and posted this over at the Dev Chat in the “Wants Pt12” thread, maybe someone will know a way for me to do this.

I know how you feel, I have a similar issue with 3dsmax. the edges/smoothing groups dont seem to translate well from wings to max or the other way around.
