External Render - Critique Needed

#1

Okay guys… Please get as critical as possible. I have not shown anything to the boss man yet as something feels off with this render. It doesn’t feel balanced or something. Anyway, any comments that will help me would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance…

Ian

The inside lights doesn’t fit with the exterior mood. ALso do you plan some slide doors?

Think the roof top planks are a bit big… but would need to find some refs for it. DO you have a concept you could share?

Thank you for the response Scote. I am working on the interior lighting at the moment as you are correct, it does not fit well.

Regarding the roof tiles… I have attached a photograph of the property as it is currently being built.

Hi there !

I would try and add some more variations the grass it looks very flat and uniform at the moment, also the roof tiles material seems a bit off, feels like plastic at the moment, doest it have any texture or is it just a material on it?
The slide doors and window frames seems a bit thin.
And i think the overall composition could be improved it all looks a bit flat at the moment, add something in the foreground (bush, flowers, tree or anything really that fits in), maybe some furniture in the outside area etc.

Thank you so much for you response Elgstrom. I have made a note of all of your points and I will now look at how I can improve them. The tiles do have a texture on them but I probably need to look at that again. I will also look at the grass and landscape to make it all more interesting. I’m already working on some furniture for the alfresco. I will post an update once I have made the changes.

Yah definitly more rows of tiles on the roofs in your ref.

Any updates you could show us? I have a few points, but I want to make sure I’m basing it off of the most recent image first.

Thank you for the input Scote. I will take another look at these tiles.

Hello TARDISMaker, I don’t have any updates on the exterior yet. I have spent some time working on the interiors instead and I’ve been trying to figure out the interior lighting. Not as easy as I first hoped. As I have started building the interiors, I quickly realised that they are not inviting or enticing at all, and I am not sure how to fix this.

So I have attached some images of the interior - living area, kitchen, dining area, games room. Please excuse the noise in the images, I did them quickly with low setting but it will hopefully give you the idea.

I am thinking of maybe going with a more minimalist look instead. It seems to be pretty popular here in Australia. Unfortunately I don’t know who is purchasing the property so it is difficult to tailor it to the owner’s specific needs etc.

I am also thinking that I need to do something with the lighting. My current lighting looks boring. Maybe a more cloudy sky creating softer shadows? Maybe an evening shot? I’m really not sure.

Okay guys
Another update
This time I chose to try the exterior on an evening shot, in addition to a few interior shots of the living room, kitchen and dining area.

Another idea I had for the exterior was to leave a wet towel by the pool with a few small puddles of water and one of the sliding doors open to create a story of a person living there (who obviously likes swimming at night).

Anyway, I would love to hear some criticisms. Each time I am able to learn a bit more from the opinions that you all have. Thank you so much.
