exporting animation curves?

#1

Hi
I am wondering if it is possible to export animation curves to other applications? For example, can i export animation of bones or cameras (i do not need bones to be exported, just their animations).

How do you solve this issue when you have needed?

You can export out .mot files that work well with Lightwave.

Then there is the old FXS -> BVH converter.

I’ll bet Point Oven has camera export as an option. Haven’t ever done that before though.

hmm maybe then i could export fbx or similar file from lightwave?

İ actually tried out bvh converter but i could not get any success. Even i used standard bhv import scene as fxs, that did not bring success either.

I’d recommend the PointOven plug-in for this. You can take the whole skeleton (in LW or in messiah) and export all the motions, then bake a scene. It’ll have a key per frame, of course, but that’s what I think yhou want.

Thank you for the answer, but is it possible to send similar data to maya or xsi through pointoven?

#6

Yeah, check the site out. Great plug.

What is the difference between messiahs own mdd exporter and point ovens messiah mdd exporter?

#8

There’s no difference in the mdds themselves, but the interface has a few extra options… particularly on the LW side. You can bake hierarchies and generate scenes all with one click.
messiah has better options than in native LW, but Mark’s plug-in is nicely though-out and structured.
If you want to transfer trasforms (movement, rotation, scale) you need to use the mots, and if you want to get these from a whole skeleton of bones, you’ll appreciate the PO options.

I actually managed to export animation curves and objects by using directx exporter and deep exploration. I can load converted scenes in lightwave or maya. That was great. I would like pmg to to look into more export options. Maybe an fbx or collada exporter would be great. But for starters directx export is doing an ok job. Thou animation play does not look as smooth as it did in Messiah. Maybe directx exporter can be tuned little better? Also it would be great if .x exporter can include camera and lights?
