Exported Displacement Seperates Faces When In Maya


This is my first time going from mudbox to maya so forgive me if this is a common problem / quick fix. I exported a 16-bit .tif from mudbox (with the maya preset ) and attached it to my shader in Maya. I’m using Surface Approximation - Spacial and rendering with mental ray. If I smooth the model it doesn’t break apart like this but there is this nasty smooth bevel on the edges. Any ideas?
