Export LW Particles to 3ds max

#1

Hi,

Is there any way to transfer particles from LW to 3ds max?
It’s no problem if it’s baked, basically all I need is the information of where each particle is at each frame (its transformation/rotation/scale) so I can distribute particle geometry in 3ds max.

Hi

I just happened to stumble across something on Denis Pontonnier´s Website. Here is the link:

http://dpont.pagesperso-orange.fr/plugins/MDD_Pointer.html

A bit further down the page for the PlugIn it says:

"
Particle Scan , for baking LW Particle System,
exports in LW ‘pfx’, ‘mdd’ and ‘mcc’(per frame) format, ,
‘mdd’ format included particle size and life infos.
"

*.mdd´s could be brought in to 3dsMax by using PointOven
Or maybe even with a newer incarnation of pointCache2, he mentions a “PointCache2_R6”
and also provides a link.

Sounds interesting enough but I have not tried what he describes, though…
Will try to find the time to check when I have access to Max at work next week.

Hope it helps ;-]

Cheers,
