Hi everyone,I’ve been playing around with making videos of me modeling and I like it…Shows many of my weaker points and helps me improve.

what are you using to record the vid?
[edit] wow you and i are different. and you are much more efficient. I only really use extrude every once and a while and a lot of edgeloop/ring select connect and tweak. quite enlightening. one question: when you selected all the faces after extruding that breasts, what did you do? [/edit]

I did it the painful and non-recommendable way,meaning I grabbed an image of my desktop every now and then,threw them in Animation shop and slapped them together to save as an avi.
I know I could’ve used snagit or camtasia but I needed it to be as small as possible either in size or lenght.

heh the infamous breasts.
I started by pulling the vertex which I had centered in that area,beveled it,tweaked,extruded the breast a few times,used Deform/Inflate and more tweaking.
Acturus and Goon try CamStudio its like camtasia excepts its free and it has a neat .swf feature, might be a good solution to both your needs.
Havent checked the vid yet, still dling.
Both the urls seem to be down for me atm.
this could be an interesting way to get a crit and learn at the same time. if people have enough space they could host their work, have people watch it and suggest where and why they should have done something else. or if they did something right or in a unique way the viewer would learn.
Nice timelapse, but I’ve noticed on most of all the wings videos that the right click menus don’t appear during the construction. What’s up with that?

Sure I use the r-click menu and I know I’m not the only one. There’s a certain learning curve you have to overcome before someone naturally switches to hotkeys. That’s an advanced user method…not for users who’ve just discovered the app…of which category I’m still in.

btw: Bet you are already doing this but… You may be able to make this method less painful by using your ctrl+alt+z (multi-undo), and taking a bunch of captures at one time without interupting your work as often.
ewdean: sorry. didnt think of it as advanced. I look for the hotkeys the second I open an app, especially something so r-click dependant like wings. having edgeloop/ring selection, etc at the touch of a button is so much faster. Even if you arent an “advanced user” i would suggest developing your own hotkey layout and getting used to it. It will speed up your workflow greatly and allow you to work on your actual modeling, only referring to the menu when you actually need it.
Guaranteed money plus a mini plush cg monkey back if you dont like it.

I could as well have the names of the operation on an overlaying text because the menus can be very hard to read after compression(like in some other Videos),that’s a bit why I didn’t include them,that and keeping an acceptable frame count.
Fuzatron:Yeah that’s what I did after a while,should’ve thought of it earlier though but it’s good to have the camera rotate around from time to time so people can see all angles.

This doesn’t seem to be released yet. I signed up to get the download link when they release it at the end of the month though.
