Excessive Noise in Render

#1

Hi all,

I have a large amount of noise in my renders and not sure what to do to get rid of them, I am using 7.4 xstream.

See attached for the noise I am referring to.

Thanks

S.

Haze, Aerial Perspective, or too much ambient light.

…or Godrays or Volumetric sun light.

It would be easier to help when you post your render and/or atmosphere settings. I know noise in clouds can be removed by raising the quality boost slider in the atmosphere editor.

aerial perspective was the key… tinkering with that effected the look of the atmosphere dramtically - will need to re-read that part of the guide!

Thanks all.

The perspective amount is 1 by default for a scene with an internal unit of the default settings, (.1 meters). This is claimed to be a realistic atmospheric density.
I have noticed occasionally that even with these settings the perspective amount is set to 10, which is way too high, so you do have to check the atmosphere editor and make sure it is correct. In most cases, using the Z-depth or Distance to camera plane from the multi-pass, in post, is the best way to create atmospherics when you are running into grain issues. I usually just do it all in post anyway, less tweak to render time ratio.

There are some amazing plug-ins for photoshop from http://www.frischluft.com/ that are amazing for this, and i use them all the time.
