Evening / Night water colour issue

#1

I have this issues with night colour water at the moment, and by that I mean the colour of the water at night. I am not sure which setting in the atmosphere editor to change to have the most effect on the water colour. I have a metawater in place and have had anything from whites, to greys to even a darkist near black bluey colour but even though I am seeing the reflections that I am after I am not getting the colour of the water correct.

Errrrm basically I am just wondering what tricks if any that people employ to get a convincing colour surface on late evening / night sky?

Thanks for anyone who can actually decipher what I am on about with this.

Are you using auto-exposure in the post-render options? Auto-exposure can do some strange things to water tones.

You can increase the reflection of the water layer to help blend a little better. By default most water materials use just the reflection @ angle amount.

Of course an example of WHAT exactly you’d like to archive would help, but if I understand you correctly you do not get the colors you WANT (I mean, a darkish lifeless color actually IS correct for a night exposure).

The simple solution is to add a infinite plan or terrain under the water surface and give it the material and color you want, e.g. Luminous glow as material and blue as color.
