Error Creating Particleview

Hi, I just spent two days with the bug where 3dsmax wont open on my laptop. Switched over to a desktop machine and then this doozy turns up.
I have tried moving the 3dsmax profile folder, and copying over a working particle view.dlo and no ceegar.
Any help would be cool.

What error exactly pops up? Screenshot maybe?Also do you have any particle extensions installed or copied over in the process?

particle veiw dont appear.
I have the standard max2011 extensions. I basically copied over most of the plugins from my working machine to the other machine, I think some ini file must be corrupt somwhere.

Had this recently with 2010, I reinstalled the service pack / did a max repair from the add / remove programs menu and also reinstalled all of the microsoft visual c++ distributables. That sorted it!

I have done the othe two things on your list.
You said all of the redistibutables, how many in total? And which ones?
