Environment problem~~ Urgent~

Hello…cgtalkers…
I need your help. I’m doing environment model and texture for add to my portfolio. and I took a picture around San francisco. and I wonder how many faces are suitable for recent game field.

I tried to make one of building and it has over 3000 faces(triangular), ususally, how many faces can we render in high-level game like half-life 2?. and do you think how many texture images and resolution is perfect for this scene…

please guess for me…

hm I don’t know what’s usual now but I guess your models are too highpoly. Tell us what you want with the model. Are characters gonna walk on the stairs? If not remove a lot of detail. If yes, you also could consider removing the wooden (metal) bars where you walk on (don’t know the word sorry :hmm: ) towards the next stairs and replacing them by one polygon with transparant textures. You need to use this kind of tricks.

again, it all depends on where you are going to use the model in the game. If it is in the distance a plain cube is amost gonna be sufficient
