Environment practice

#1

Hi guys,

I’ve been obsessed in cg environments lately and finally doing some projects and tests figuring out how to do it. After some tests this week i got some decent renders out of v-ray.

here’s one:

I use World machine to make the geometry I then output the mesh from there alongside the height maps which i use for texturing.
Then I import the low poly mesh in 3Ds Max and use a V-ray sun to light the scene and texture it, then i replace the low poly with a high poly mesh for final renders.

The problem I often have is that i have some texture problems, it looks great from afar but when i get closer the textures look big and sometimes stretched, tried to tile and mix different textures together but the the textures still look blurry and weird sometimes.

If someone has some tips or thoughts, i love to hear them!

Hi your renders are looking great! what type of UVing are you using just out of interest? also when you use the highres mesh are you still using displacement?

Thanks! Used planar mapping for that one. I didn’t use displacement mapping on the highres mesh max was already locking up only for viewing the object in the viewport i think the 8 million polycount is a bit overkill :P.

I made a new environment where i used a landscape with a lot less polys and used displacement on there.
