Energy emphasis- MP reel shot-concept

#1

This is shot from my upcoming vfxreel.
Finally the cam moves up to a gigantic spaceship, or so

Update

Sky is from openfootage.net.
Mountains and energy thingis 3d.
Software C4D, Combustion, PS

C&C would be great.

Good work, i find it unnatural how black the sky gets on the left hand side though, especially when contrasted with how sunny it is on the oppsite side.

Hi TomasWarren, thx for your crit.
About the sky Contrast, it came already like this from openfootage.net.
It seems to be a Natural Thing :-), i just overexpossed it a little.

Here is an Update.

Hi rasher,

I liked your idea very much, unfortunatelly your video doesn’t do you justice. Everything seemed flat. as if they were image cut-outs and moved from left to right. Although you added parallax, there was still a lot of movement inconsistencies that made the whole video flat. The clouds were not working too, like the other elements, they were just moving in a linear way. If you look closely in footages as, the cloud moves, the shape changes, very subtle yet still noticeable.

Don’t take my comments negativelly. Like I said the image is great, you might just need to project your images in 3D elements and place them in 3D space accordinglly.

Hi eyecon,

thank you very much for your C&C.
I dont see it negativelly
I like to produce a good VFX shot and C&C is very important.

To create this i just took the layers from PS into combustion 3D space and played with Parallax scrolling.
I tought it works but it does not

Whats now on my todo list is…

Creating depht with 3D Cameramapping on the foreground elements.
Put some action in the energy towers( i want them to open and close, so you get the feeling, they are breathing) and put them on single big Earthpieces, which are hover in the sky.
Rendering the foreground Ship in 3D.
Adding much more details to the ship´s.
Adding some smoke stuff to the ship´s.
Working on the Skyfootage( cutting single pieces out and make them moving itself subtile)
Slowing the Skyfootage down.
Trying to get a good and fast workflow between Cinema4d and Combustion, without having to much rendertime.

Creating 3 more shots to make a little story.

Great man! I’m looking forward to this one.

I looked into your reel wip again, si I guess you already have an idea what to do. If you have time you might want to project this painting on 3D geometries and try to place them in a scene as accurate as you can. This way your parallax would work like in the real world.

Putting them on cards alone, especially the foreground elements will always make them look flat, only the background elements can be projected on cards.

Anyway I’m glad I was a bit of help. Like I said, I look forward to seeing this finished with camera moves!
