Okay, I decided to finish the 1st one aswell, since I got so far with it allready.
The scairy monster really ****ed. So I had to try something else instead. Here’s the badguy.
Maybe he doesn’t look so bad, but that’s not what SHE will be thinking…

…and here’s my elf in the environment…

Sorry for messing up this thread.

This is a nice piece of work, but I wouldn’t be so fast to call it finished.
A few things:
I think the whole piece needs a little more depth. At the moment it’s sort of got a wierd Japanese silk painting vibe about it (perspective wise), which is kind of nice, but I’m not sure if this is what you intended.

Also, in my opinion, the characters and the environment aren’t marrying as well as they might do. It looks very much like the girl especially was painted as a seperate piece and then pasted into this composition. I’d work a little on resolving some of the style differences.

As well as that, I think it could benefit from a little more reaction / interaction between the characters. Something that would tell a bit more of a story. It’s pretty obvious what’s going on, but I think it might be helped along by a little more indication of her reaction to him and vice versa.

That’s about it. Hope this helps!!

Puddlefish you’re right… again.
But I’ve had more than enough of this piece. I will put some more detailing in the lumberjacker and send that one in.

Did some last changes on the giant-women-forrest. Most important: they are all looking at the lumberjack now. And I tried to get the focus on the one in the middle, so the rest is a little bit blurred and I have put some birds around her head.

(btw the guy is a magical creature too. He’s the offspring of my mermaid from last month’s challenge. The poor guy found a job on the shore, because he couldn’t stand the smell of fish  )

Dirty monkey.

Dude, the forrest with the river and fairy looks pretty cool, but I basically agree with what puddlefish had to say. If you wanted to keep the perspective I’d say tweak the colors and some of the details to accentuate the Japo-chinese feeling.

As far as your giant “bush” forrest. I guess that would be “boxwood” those trees are made of, huh? Friggin hilarious!!! I was LMAO with the tip to the Monty Python lumberjack song. Too funny. hehehe.

I really love your drawing/painting style with doing your characters. It reminds me of a blend of pen+ink with oil paint and airbrushing. It gives it a really unique look. Great work on all the pics you crazy a$$ perv. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I allso think it starts to look too much like KOryH’s concept.
Elf-girl next to water with badguy coming around the corner.
And KOryH’s is about a 100 times better.

That’s funny you say that, I did both in the past (back in the dark ages before Photoshop was invented). And the technique in PS reminds me a lot of it. It’s just a lot more flexible this way.

I agree with the others. And now I’ve got to go to the bathroom and… I just got to go there.

He, thanks Tommy Lee.

But I think I’m disqualified for putting in a human (so maybe you where right after-all, Sangotten). I’ve posted my thumb and my thread for 5 days ago and it’s still not in the 2D-gallery.

Oh well, if rules are that important to our moderators;
The most succesfull artists in history did NOT play by the rules.
So there’s still hope for me.

btw, me winning? Don’t think so. The quality of the entries is very (VERY) high this month.
