Enchanted Forest - Environment - Nahaz

Blackforest, Southern Boundary

#2

Well, that’s a nice looking forest alright… all it needs is something enchanting

#3

I only decided to enter this last week. Since i did most of this over the last couple of days, there aren’t really any WIPs.

This is my interpretation of any evil/dark forest you may have read about in a fantasy novel.

#4

I might add a few glowing mushrooms before deadline.

#5

It is looking good, but it is much too dark.
Maybe if the moon enlightens more the scene…
I also think that the moon is too yellow, and without glow effects, it could became better with this details.
The terrain looks very good too.
keep up with the good work!

Yeah, everything looks awesome cept for the moon.Shouldnt it be white and eery?

#7

BIGGER REZ!!!
n brightness/kontrast
Looks cool!

#8

I’ve made some changes.

I deliberately made it this contrast and brightness. Also the moon is often clear and yellow when it rises here.

I thought there was enough implied enchantment, but i’ve added something more.

There’s a larger version through this link

Hmm, used up my monthly bandwidth cap at 150m.com already.

Wait right there while i find somewhere else.

#10

Actually it was my daily cap of 20mb that got used up. I’ll attach a <50kb version.

I really love the cinematic feeling to this piece. It reminds me of a scene out of Akira Kurosawa’s ‘Ran’. I like the spirit hores also…very subtle touch there. Good work

#12

Maybe it is a bit too dark

I have my monitor set to 100/100 for brightness and contrast. I’m using an LG Studioworks, which looks fine at this contrast and brightness.

#13

It’s really dark from my screen. It looks like all of the trees are in shiloette. The only ground bits that I see light on is the grass and the stone bridge. Hope that helps with what it looks like from this end.

#14

The trees should be dark/black and in silhouette. You should be able to make out the purple in the foxglove, see the orange glow in the far trees, see the mist in the midground.

#15

Personally I think that piece looks great Nahaz.

It’s funny how people think that it needs to be brighter…!?
It really has a very comforting yet eerie feel about it, if it were any lighter it would ruin it.

Good work.

#16

Yeah, it looks great when you close your eyes

I was trying to achieve the design principle of “less is more”. Great pictures in my opinion, don’t reveil too much, just enough to spark your imagination.

The greatest novelty comes from your own imagination.
