enchanted forest : different interpretation

This is my first WIP challenge, but I didn’t want to use the concept of the forest too literally. More than that, I wanted to create a sort of space that echoes the magical nature of the challenge : a ‘forest’ of rock and mystic space : and intersperse it with a mysterious silhouette.
Spatially, I believe this image is simple yet interesting. Anyway, it’s one of the first things I have done using Maya.
Let me know what you all think of it.

Not much time left, better get crankin! What is the thing in the forgound? Light it up so we can see what it is

I had intended to leave the creature silhouetted so as to maintain it’s magical nature; rather than describing it in detail.

Here’s a different render I took with different lighting and different composition. Unfortunately, I’m leaving town shortly; so I don’t have time to rework a new image.

Anyway, here’s the other render I’d made :
