EIM Needs a Name

#41

Factory, I like that!

Specially with the .fact connection, looks like the circle has closed again…

Electric Image Toolbox

#43

That was AzOne’s suggestion, but I quickly approved. So far Factory is my favorite.

#44

(I so want to try that carpet and cat trick :D)

#45

MarsViolet - I sure wish I had made that “Tesla/tessellate” connection. Very supportive. To me, Silo evokes the obvious grain or missile storage and modo, Italian fashion. Tesla, in summary, evokes an imaginative laboratory.

#46

Factory is good. FACT… Engineering… Building… Constructing… CAD it has it all.

Jens

Edit: Maybe not a good name for a character modler though…

#47

factory is too ‘common’

#1 I love TESLA it works on so many levels (gotta see the movie PRESTIGE with Dr Nocolis Tesla (David Bowie) playing a big role in a GREAT movie, very cool)

#2 EIMS Electric Image Modeling System (I know it s obvious)

#3 CREATOR or EICS Electric Image Creation System (good maybe for overall name change when the modeler is more integrated)

#4 it’s - ALIVE! (homage to the elctricity run through frankenstein to bring him to life as Dr Frankenstein proclaims it’s ALIVE! so through electricity we build “life” \ Models. I know its out there)

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the name “Modeler,” keeping Electric Image as the surname.

Telsa gets my vote if EITG needs to re-brand it as a new stand alone product.

However for the sake of nostalgia I would prefer to keep EIM as the name of any version that gets bundled with EIAS.

Talking of nostalgia I now have the urge to scour eBay for an ancient 604e beige Mac and run Pixel Putty ( I still have the floppy somewhere!!)

Happy New Year everyone

Electric Image Origin

#51

Perhaps you could try it on some Macintosh emulator: here they list a few. http://www.thefreecountry.com/emulators/macintosh.shtml

#52

…then you could go - EI, EIO - just like the barnyard song:-)

#53

Thanks Paul, now I can’t get that stupid song out of my head.

How about Facture

#54

Porno for Polygons

#55

i hope i’m not the only one that get’s that reference…

#56

LOL - My daughter was singing that song to me this morning…

I’d like to add a third vote to EIMS Elements.

I like the way “elements” can be used in a positive way. As a building block to better things.

Happy New years to all…

Also really like “Tesla” here…also “Fuse”…

How about…

Flux

Evokes the Flux Capacitor from Back to the Future…also has several meanings relating to a state of change or flow or flowing water (how a modeler should make modeling feel). Also a substance that aids in the fusion of metals (alludes to the ease of booleans and bevels in EIM). And of course there’s Aeon Flux (which has nothing to do with electricity or modeling, just tossing it in there as a cool pop culture reference).

I just choked on my espresso.

Hell, if we’re going down that route, why not Sex, I’m a. . .

#59

Hey, ‘EI Expresso’ nice strong flavor and symbolic to ‘express’.

Happy New Year everyone!!

There’s a certain appeal to “Fusion.”
