Eggprops

Eggprops is back. (sort of)

http://www.eggprops.com

I’m slowly adding the products back onto my new super cool storefront. This should make buying models a million times easier than the old eggprops. . .

You can buy gift certificates. . . you can get credits for buying products etc.

Very fun stuff.

And I can now link directly to products!

You can purchase this model <here>.

Cool huh!?!

#2

Cool! Good to see them coming back

#3

Cool! I look forward to seeing all your stuff back online!

#4

<here>

I really like this one. All the little details. . . and the mesh is REALLY well layed out.

#5

All looking good so far. It’s good to see this resource returning. I wonder who made the models though and do you take in models (of good enough standard) from the community and get a cut off them?

#6

Well. . . a cut of nothing is. . . nothing. These models aren’t exactly flying off the shelves. Once I get a big library back up I will start doing promotions that may start shifting product. . . and that may enable me to comission more models to be made. . . but I kind of doubt it.

#7

<here>

Kind of hard to get those shadows not to band isn’t it. . . :-/

#8

The previous layout was pretty but probably wasn’t too search engine friendly - try to keep it simple and with lots of relevant text. Permanent inbound links are also desirable, rather than temporary posts on forums and mailing lists, which are impossible to keep up.

Speaking for myself, rather than flashy high quality specific items or characters (Which I would probaby rather render myself) I would be interested in packs of acceptable quality props to fill a scene

#9

Yea. . . this new backend can generate static HTML pages that things like google can search through easily. I’m not in the “promote” stage right now. . . I’m just hoping for feedback and to test and make sure everything is working.

So. . . what kind of ojbects?

Furnature? Plants etc?

#10

I think its great that your bringing eggprops back. Id go for vehicles and non organic stuff. Stuff that I could use as props. And any type of tutes to.

#11

What kind of Tutes?

#12

Id like to see stuff done with effects like particles, blobbies and stuff like that. Hair and smartskin. And a big one would be how to use AM with After Effects. If someone can do it thats you!

Please read everything

<What kind of Tutes?>

  1. Creature creation:

Complete video series on

Modelling

Texturing

rigging and animating creatures.

Obviously you have to do captivating creatures such as orcs, elves
“disneyesque” creatures, dragons, fell beasts, Oliphants,
dinosaurs, monsters, caterpillers, snails etc.
knock-off characters, and special effects from popular
movies. Change their name to avoid copyright issues, but show
the AM user how to do it in Animation Master. You see, many
of them will never end up at Weta, Pixar, or ILM, but making
Gullum, the fell beast, or building and animationg Nemo in
his environment will bring these major studios to their home.

  1. Human Modelling

Artists can never get enough of the human body and whereas other
software such as MAX has a never ending list of artists that has
produced stunning human-like characters. Those from the AM
community have been few and far between. I am therefore pro-
posing a series on modelling an anotomically correct and photo-
realistic male and female human model. The series can be broken up
into:

  1. Modelling - faces, torso, arms and legs, hands and feet

  2. Hair and Texturing

  3. Rigging and Animation

You may think that there enough free tutorials on modelling
faces in animation master, but I’v not seen any that explores
how to deal with creases and structures of different kinds of
faces.

  1. Quadrupeds and Birds

Modelling, texturing, rigging and animating dogs, lions, ware-
wolves; ostriches, pigeons and peacocks. Ofcourse explore the hair
feature of AM to its fullest.

  1. Mechanical Modelling

Bikes, Cars, Tractors, Space pods etc.

Format and Pricing

The AM community may not be the richest, but a signigicant amount
of money can be made with the right approach to business. In this
respect, I am suggesting that each tutorial series be broken up into units
that cost $10.00- $20.00 per piece for between 20-30 minutes of downloadable
video that should not be more than 30mbytes.

For the actual method of sale, maybe you can experiment with a
community based store where members pay for points that allows them
to download the tutorials of their choice as is convenient to their pockets
and time. An example of such is found at http://www.simplymaya.com.
My reason for this long post is that I firmly believe that the AM
community is made up of people with a fierce do-it-yourself approach
to 3D. As such, it would not be easy to sell them ready made stuff such as
models and textures from your old store, but selling them how to do it and
make it should definitely be the way to go.

I will really like to get feedback on this from you and the rest of the AM gang.

Great ideas and Im totaly game for this:bounce:

Nice work Wegg.
Congratulations for the interface of your website  and the really good looking of the materials.

As Sonofpat said, and in case other users were interested in , I could give some of my knowledge of Human anatomy to help making accurate tutorials (Human proportions, human center of rotation for articulations, surperficial anatomy and so on…).

The Skull made by Wegg is a REALLY good one. I have fully modeled one far more complex for scientific purpose, but it will not be sold for now and I really think the (non scientific) audience will see no difference.

Once again, great work Wegg.

Alain

#16

Heheh, I had forgotten about that “shadowcaster” logo I made for the guitar.

Good to see it back, wegg. The new interface is nice.

#17

Thanks Brian. I love seeing those old things pop up.

Here is the Revolver Dave Faris modeled for us.

You can check it out on eggprops <here>

#18

Hey Wegg,

Nice to see that the site is revived. I was thinking of buying the Hash to lightwave tut. One thing that I am wondering though is, would the tutorial be any use for programs other than lightwave? I need to get AM models into Max and MAya.

#19

Yes. . . it should work fine. I know for a fact that Max has all the tools you would need to build your polygons up in the same way as Lightwave does. And I’d be shocked if Maya doesn’t. The difference will obviously be in where the buttons are. . . and how it implements Sub-Ds. There is one method of Sub-D in Max that has no volume loss. If you use that then you can skip a whole section of the tutorial. You will see it when you watch it. Well. . . if you watch it.

Wegg,
Does this interesting video tutorial be available for download , or is it only sold on CD ?
Thanks a lot
