Effing censored

#1

Since when is f ucking censored? I very rarely swear, but its a very useful word in the english language used to emphasize something a great deal. Sometimes its entirely justified and honestly, I havent seen any abundance of swearing around here.

I last managed to use it a number of months ago, now I find this heinous and evil word is too harsh to stain the poor kiddies eyes with. Not impressed to be brutally honest

And this is the first time Ive ever felt any need to make any serious comment on the running of these forums.

I very rarely swear

Personally, I’d go with that.

However, if you must know … it’s because we’re running a professionally moderated forum. If you’d like to use the word, you’re more than welcome to use your own blog or own forum. Or you can continue to circumvent the word filter like you have done here (twice) and risk having your posting privileges removed.

I averted the filter once (effing is a word in its own right) so that you would know what the post was about, complaining about a censored word by displaying a censored word wouldnt be a very useful way to communicate would it?

And might I add, replying to my question with essentially “Go away or be banned” isnt particularly friendly is it?

Probably because most people have figured out that there are plenty of other words that you can use that will not offend anyone, that there is no real need to use the F word in civilised conversation.

The mere fact that its taken you this long to notice (its been blocked for quite a long time) indicates to me that you clearly don’t NEED to use it.

Hey, you asked the question. If you didn’t want to hear the answer then why bother? I didn’t say, go away or be banned. I stated the forum rules and gave you some advice about censored word evasion.

“Effing” (only in an urban Dictionary) is a derivative of the word.
“f ucking” is also a derivative of the word.

That’s two.

Any other confusions that I may help you with?

Personally I swear constantly (yes, even at work, so I don’t personally buy into the concept of “professional” talk myself), and when given the opportunity, will never hesitate to launch into a long rant about how unnecessary it is to demonise four letter words; because words only have as much power as we allow them, and in the end it all comes down to intent anyway. The whole fuss about swearing is little more than Victorian prudishness masquerading as morality, but anyway… suffice to say, this particular word has always been blocked on this site, and I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon.

Funnily enough,in Victorian times, modern day obsenities were considered no more a way of expressing one’s self than any other slang or colourful wording of the day.
It was that wonderful multibillion dollar, tax evading institution:the catholic church, which deemed it neccessary to enforce their hypocritical views on the rest of society.Deciding the manner of how we choose to express ourselves, which has carried into modern times.

What a bunch of Fuc;)££$"%%$^&^&%^%^**&&^*^&&^…so-and-so’s

Fucking such and important word?

#9

No doubt if words, which are deemed offensive, although that is a silly notion as a word has many diffrent means etc etc… but anyway, no doubt you would get alot of younger, less mature posters going around using it in every post, which would make the forum look quite bad.

I believe this post definitively ends the discussion as the point made cannot really be countered.

herehere.

Except for the fact that there are ways around it (as demonstrated in this very thread, plus you can always write f*ck, which really means exactly the same thing), and yet we don’t see this very often at all. You’re assuming an awful lot about our userbase here.

That argument is simply not valid.
