Edge Loops issue


Hi everyone, I’m new to modeling in Maya and am trying to recreate what’s in the image

I’ve created this cylinder, extruded several faces, and added edge loops for support. However, hard edges appear - how can I fix this problem?


add more edge loops to the original mesh before extruding.
just try fiddling with a high subdivision primitive in comparison to a low subdivision and observe the difference.
