easyer than LW to pick up?

#1

Hi, i am a student and have just started modeling in formz because this is what my college uses and teaches, but thats ok with me. i have heard some good things about Modo and am thinking of giving it a go, what i want to know is, if i start using it now and producing work for my college course, can i export to LW and even FormZ so that my college will think that the model will have been created in them all along?

What usually happens is that the students do all the modeling in Z then take it into LW for rendering and animating etc.

Also, when exporting models to other apps does it mess up the model at all?

Thanks

Modo has a few export options for static mesh.

.lwo
.obj

You can take it to lightwave with no problem i assume, due to the LWO export option. Just keep in mind, LW doesnt have support for N-side polys in its subpatch mode.

If FormZ supports .obj, it might export fine also. BTW is FormZ a poly/Subdivision modeler, or a NURBS base modeler(ala Rhino)? If its not the latter, than it probably wont be a problem with export/import.
