dynamesh question

#1

Hi everyone.
I’m new in Zbrush. I’m following tutorials and watching lectures but I can’t go any further at some point.

I was following this lecture. At 1:30 of this movie, it shows how to separate a dynamesh according to its polygroup.

Whenever I re-mesh two separated polymesh while ‘group’ option on, zbrush doesn’t work the way it supposed to be.
Here’s the entire process I’ve tried.

1.Bring sphere, ‘Make polymesh 3d’ -> turn it to dynamesh.(resolution 128)

  1. Make polygroup by using ‘Slicecurve’

  2. Remesh by control dragging empty space. I didn’t forget to unmask the mesh first. Group option in Dynamesh in surely on.

  3. Change to ‘Move’ mode, masking one mesh by Ctrl+LMB clicking on the surface. Dragging out transpose line, then move one mesh.

  4. Zbrush shows a streched mesh like picture.

I tried to remesh some more times, but the thing I figured out is zbrush is generating some more additional meshes. I tried to move the stretched part, I found there are some more different polygrouped meshes between two meshes.

Does anyone knows why is it happening? I tried to google about it, but I couldn’t find any answer or…similar things. So if you know something, please let me know.

Are you remembering to use the Transpose centre circle to drag? Also have you tried using masking instead of Slice Curve?

After I read your reply,
I tried just ‘Mask’ to make polygroup method, but it shows same result.
Also I double checked to use center circle but same result.
Thank you for your opinion.
Maybe I need to send an e-mail to Zbrush official site.
I googled few hours, but I never saw a symptom like this.
For future, if anyone knows something about this, please give me any opinion you think.
Thank you and happy new year. :banghead:

I’ve had a good re-read of your post. It seems like you are doing everything right, I mean the same process works fine for me. The only possible mistakes I think would be if you had failed to click drag on canvas to re-dynamesh, but I think you already paid proper attention to that.

Informerman is a main ZBrush guru here. If he sees this thread he may be able to advise you better than I can. With the Christmas break it is hard to know when he will pass by, so I suggest sending him a PM with a link to this thread. If you are in a hurry to resolve the issue, you could also post on the zbrushcentral forums.
