DWIV - Mini Challenge #1 - War General Portraits 2D

#521

Something that way would work. I wonder, whether the fumes should go more upward or already begin where the eyes do. And also I think, you do not need to mess up with the whole red clothing. Often it is enough to give some serious hints for the eyes to make everything look the way you want. Some stains or some single fibres or something like that, and the contrast will be the same but the look might fit to the undead. But one of my favs already

guess its more polite to stay in english, so everyone can follow… still finding the white eyes more disgusting, will give the iris another try later…

but added some dirt and noise to the jacket… i will take short time of this pic, to perhaps catch a new eye on this…

#523

The jacket fits better this way. And if you like the white eyes most, try something like little capillars (the venes I spoke of) at the edges or from below, which run in the eye. Instead of making the middle brighter by adding an iris, you might darken the edges a bit, by venes, shadows, a little bit red colour or similar. I think, just some things at the edges of the eyeballs are enough to create a focus on the middle of the eyes. But that’s marginal. I think, it looks already gorgeous.

#524

Going on with details.

#525

please, comment!

Congratulations to everyone!

#526

syrez-one, the smiley was a joke because I hadn’t finish the face yet…

I like your image, however, I’d like to see a lower jaw that would allow for a more fierce look. Great design though.

#527

Gah, so many new entries and updates! Shall do a proper bout of commenting soon, promise! Suffice to say that it all looks smashing! And thanks for the comments, those who replied! No crit goes un-evaluated. ^^

Didn’t have much time today, but the weekend be coming up and I just got my computer back from the shop…let the painting commence!

Got a lot of comments on the head of the bird being very hard to read, so put some effort into making it more obvious what is going on. Refined his head a bit as well, getting some more curve into his mouthpiece.

Diguera - I like the magic look , and the appearance of the skin is very accomplished.
syrez-one - bone structure seems real, perfect.
stridiggio - I do not know why, but it has a large militar aspect .The detail of the colors in the shoulder gives a good counterpoint.
Tedskis - A design of the most originales.“you can not play with her”. Good work.
Artys - It looks led an army and a people with roots. Good work.
Crix Dorius - Good job. (And handsome!)
Paperclip - The expression of the character is perfect. Great technique.
cylstudio81 - Very good design, I love the helmet!
BluntPencil - A very cool design. Good work!

Beautifil Bluntpencil8Looking forward to see it painted!

I would just appreciate your advice about his pet.did some pet doodles…You’ve made me hesitate now
Hesitating between a classy badass or to put in some humor with a creature like “B” watching (and wanna eat)a bug coming by

I’m gone this weekend so cant work on it, will finish Monday:hmm:

#530

woh, Okmer, realy tough decision, personaly i like version A the most… the iguana has a sneaky look… like he’d bite u in the butt, once you don’t watch him… which would fit to the general as he looks very sinister…

version B reminds me alot of an insect (the face, the feet make it somehting different) but still very slippery,…

c,d,e are bit too cute for my liking… but it sure adds a lot of humor, if you see the eloquent general… and in opposition a kuddo pet …

btw. any idea for my generals name? General Dawn ? G of the Dead? :stuck_out_tongue:

#531

I like B. no hesitation for me. Cool design.

#532

I’m off to work. Hopefully I can finish out the bones and start on the robe tonight.

#533

I like B too, others looks so terrestrials …

#534

Another WIP… slowing coming together I think

#535

NH: Thanks man

BaronImpossible: Thank you for your advice. I think that was ( probably still is a) the problem.

g3p: thanks. but your general rocks too.

madbot: good idea. tried following it.

Okmer: Really appreciate that. I love your work man your General looks wicked. But if you choose the Reptile one you should make his expression kinda more serious. If you stick with the petthingy it’s brilliant. keep it on :buttrock:

So started throwing in some colors and making him more sinister. hope thats worked.
and i chose to change the design of the helmet the previous one didn’t worked out good.

btw suggestions for a name are welcome too

#536

OKMER - I vote for B! I love the demon pet thingy. Can’t wait to see it finished!

#537

Good works everybody!

Artys> good job!

Okmer> I think variant B looks very good! This animal what he hold on hands, reminds me works Bobby Chiu. And this make your work Very original i think and funny a little) I hope you can finish this work!

#538

Remko: thanks for your great crits, I tried utilizing them all…as for yours, I say B. Definitely. I love the happy look on the critter’s face and the contrast with the scary guy. Oh! Give the ‘pet’ a pink ribbon around his neck, that’d be great.

Kimded: lookign good so far, however the head doesn’t really seem to line up properly with the body, try moving things around a bit so it lines up (looks like the head should be to the right a smidgen more)

Naito: really like how this is going.

splintercannon: I’d suggest making the bones darker and more yellowed (kinda like the hair, actually)- usually you won’t find SUCH white bones in nature, unless it’s the brightest day on earth and they’ve been bleached white by the sun…search google images for bones

Bluntpencil: It does look a lot clearer around the head, I like that. Please continue. :wip: :arteest:

I made the badge on his hat more metallic and gave it a background. Does this look finished yet?

EDIT: I gave the newest version (not seen here) more room at the top. Pete- I know the fingers seem rubbery, but I kind of like that. I’m not trying to get out of doing more work on it, honest. It just seems to go with the whole feel of monsieur poodly…I may change my mind later on though??

#539

OKMER, I Choose 100% B pet more stylish, good work !!

#540

peperclip: Love the Style!. Great feel to it. My only comment might be his fingers look a little rubbery…maybe structure the knuckles a bit sharper…or it can just be my bleary eyes

Bluntpencil: Love the complete feel of that thing. Oddly enough, I totally missed the bird…thought it was arm armour. Maybe add a color to teh head metal? Stronger shadow under head to pop it out?

OKMER: God you are good. Maybe you have 3 minutes and you can knck out another one whil eyou are peeing? I like the first lizard myself.

naito: Fantastic face man. Maybe add some hair or feathers to teh helmet to liven it up some?

anyhow…those are my humble opinions. Wish I had time to tell all how amaing the work looks.

I hope to post an update tonight or tomorrow.

Pete
