g3p: Looking really good! I love the slashes across the face and his expression.
Deadinthe attic: Looks like his cheeks could use a shade (pun) more shadow…I like his cloth though!

Remko…monkey boy…stop making the rest of us look bad. :smiley: I really like this one, can’t decide between it and the blue one though. I liked the iguana, this is cool, but I think the white iguana somehow fits the pic better, not sure why though…artistic licence, I guess??
ersinerturk: looking good so far! The lighting looks off though- try and pick one source of lighting! I like the idea of the star though.
Crisdorix: Looking much better! The arm nearest us could be a bit thicker though, it doesn’t seem to match the other side…also, the lighting on the forehead doesn’t match the lighting on the rest of the face…might want to check that out…
staticpen: Interesting! Show us the newest update…hard to crit when we don’t know what it looks like right now…
Bluntpencil: Looking really dramatic now! Great pose, full of movement.

I think I’m pretty much done, I just tightened everything up- I want to fix up the logo on the hat and then I think I’m finished. Last minute crits, plz plz plz!!

I wanted to try to make an other General but with a bit more crazy design.
Just a block in to get an idea of mood and shape.
Not sure if I will have enough time to finish it on time but will have a try.

Hi!

Thanks for your comments. Perhaps I should play 'round a bit with my colour profiles.

I would only correct some of the fingers of your general. I think especially the finger below looks a bit acheful. Perhaps a little bit shorter and the fingers will fit to your general?!?

Another update. I darkened the bg alot to pop out the character, as this was recommended by a couple people (PeteS and ShogunWarrior, tnx).

Syrez-one: Not sure about the flag idea, I might toy around with it, but as I’ve darkened the bg so much, it might be a bit difficult to pull off.

I have to put the logo in sometime soon too. It is going to go on his chestplate (which I figure yinz have guessed by now).

Also, should I rough up his face a bit and add some dirt/rust/blood/death to his armor?

Krishna-fu >> Mmmm… no, my general has no laser-eye, but no eyes at all. His helmet is kinda substitute, but surely better than eyes in a war :wink:

This one is going much better than the original - that’s what I get for jumping in without thinking. After a bit of playing the helmet is actually working out a bit better than I thought, so we’ll see how it turns out.
Still a number of things to touch and finish but it’s going pretty quick now.
Sadly, I only have one more day to work on it, and that’s Monday as I’m out of town for the weekend so it will be cutting it close. Hopefully I will finish in time.

One of these days I will learn how to use proper lighting and rendering materials…but this is great practice.

So…I finally got to start on this guy tonight. Work going as it is, I’m not sure if i’ll get to finish this…but hey, still fun.
So, I think I have the basic color pallet I like, though I’m kinda winging everything as I go. Thanks for looking. Comments welcomed.

BTW.some really amazing work in here!! Enough to inspire my lazy ass to join :slight_smile:

Jonathan Lin - have interesting image, “create a portrait of a leader capable of leading troops to victory” - why not “indian chief”? But his hands now - he surrenders, lost and don’t want to die? Give them more aggressive form.
