Cheers guys, thanks for support.
Update:

Looks great man! How many tris are you at right now?? Lookin forward to more updates
The modelling is looking great so far! I’m also interested in a tri count.
And, always good to see another cyborg on the field!
The count is at around 5-6k at the moment.
I am modeling the high poly at the moment, so I am not too concerned with the count, I am just blocking everything out first before I get stuck into the detailing.
Will most likely keep the blocked out model for the low poly mesh before I get into the detail. That’s the plan for the work flow at the moment. If you have any suggestions or improvements feel free to share

Hey Aaron,
Cool design and concept, the model looks really great
Maybe you can rise the arms positon to the head level and make the a bit large, to mantain the human form but with a little push on the design, more a wish than a critic
Good luck and waiting for more updates! Cheers!!
Awesome updates! nothing much to crit… apart from pointing that some of the details you are modeling into the mesh could be easy done in zbrush and get it out of normals… as you say, the tendency is to get going with detailing but you can save time by not modeling those details into the mesh at this stage… if you can get everything done in 10k then it is fine, i am already getting that next gen character feel by just looking at the mesh… Great going! ![]()
Cheers guys,
Ferx - Thanks
For this character I think I will try to vary from human-like proportions just to make it a bit more appealing and interesting. Although adjustments will probably need to be made, I will wait till I get the arms and guns on the model before I shift the shoulder area around too much. Cheers for the crit!
namnocilis - Cheers, This will the the high poly model, so I am not to worried about the polycount at the moment. The idea is to get most of the detail in the hard surfaced parts of the character in maya, then I will do most of the organic detailing in Zbrush. Will see how that goes, first time using this workflow. Glad you are getting the next-gen buzz out of this guy
Update for tonight…
Not too much to show, just been working on blocking out the legs and checking the overall feel of the model.

Looking gud, glad to see the modelling coming along nicely.
Would love to see a side render.
Keep it up
Woo! It look like very good!
I am very looking forward to see your next upgrade. Good luck!
Cheers all,
Have actually been quite busy on this, sorry for the lack of updates, more to come soon!
I will be spending most of easter holiday working on this :argh: but I must do this to catch up because I have been sick.
Update for tonight… started on the rail cannon!

That looks pretty good, I love to see how you guys approach robots and such at highpoly and how much you can bring down to the low poly lvl. Can’t wait to see him fully built out!
Thanks man,
Bit more done on the gun. working on the part where the arm attaches to it now.

Thats looking realy great man  if this is the quality we can expect to see this is going to be one amazing piece… Keep it up mate
Glad you fellows like it :buttrock:
Blocked out the join/middle of the gun. Quite a difficult area, basically the flesh fuses from the arm onto the weapon. Should look pretty badass when it’s done.
If anyone has any crit on the rail cannon please share
I need to get onto detailing the body tomorrow after I finish the gun.

Perhaps just add one or two elements, which might be loose, something like hoses or a munition belt, chains or something like that. Perhaps a link between the body and this weapon?
