DWIV-2D-primativ-DEMON PRINCESS

Latest Image

Hi these are my sketches for a Demon Princess.

I am not totally sure if having the two creatures combined is within the rules but it’s worth a shot. 1-2 have her combined with a half lobster giant. Some of the others have her riding on saddles and 11-12 shes in place of a severed head.

The steed design could go in several directions. Let me know which ones are working.

I want the princess to be attractive but am not sure what demonic elements to add, wings, horns etc. I may just focus on adding ornamental costume and the red skin.

A new sketch for today, I expanded on concept 14 and showed the scale between the princess and the monster and also designed a new saddle.

I have also added a new monster concept. For the new one the monster would carry the princess in its mouth.

Here is my latest sketch. I decided to fuse 28 and 1 into one monster. I’m thinking that it will carry the Demon Princess in those front tusks.

My next step will be to refine the Princess herself. I am thinking of making her outfit based on marine life possibly a manta.

Hey Karl,

Cool concept and sketches! Like the monster idea for the princess, really great! Maybe yo can try one crab arm and the other like your sketch 28, only a comment! Again, nice work and looking forward for more updates! Cheers!!

Thanks for the suggestion Ferx, I think I will probably end up adding some asymetry to the monster to make it more interesting, he’s a little too bland as it is. I think the whole upper body is too human looking anyway so it might get scrapped.

Here is my latest for the princess.

I may change her armor and head gear as I am not totally keen on them yet. The octopus arms turned out pretty well I think.

This is a little too tight for sketching purposes but once I get started it’s hard for me to not want to refine more, and I think this is the direction I want to go with the princess.

I think I will follow what I see in other artists threads and work with just siluettes for future designs.

Here is my latest creature design. I switched the position of the arms and torso just because the tail was a little too dead on lobster looking. I will refine her triton to make it more unique. Still need to work out a position for her octopus arms.

I like the overall pose but I need to figure out a location for the scene. So far I am thinking of using an underwater volcano or a rocky beach. I may add fleeing humans although a princess might not get that close to the front lines of a battle.

Here is my latest addition to my character design, I added a side view and a piece of forearm armor. I also did a quick color study.
Its getting pretty close to the deadline and I still need a final design sketch for the steed and a final image.

I am thinking of showing her emerging from the ocean to do battle with a small force of humans.

Nice stuff.

keep it up:beer:

Here is another color variation.

I think I will go with these colors.

This is my model sheet for the Demon Princess’s steed. Hopefully having an extra weeks time to work I can get the final image done.

Time to get crackin.

Here is a quick sketch of my final scene. I have some photo stand-ins for my enviroment. This is where it gets tricky, figuring out my lighting and how to affect the colors. Any good info on setting a harmonious color pallette would be appreciated greatly.

I have ruffed out the composition time to do the final line art, after that I break out the crayons and start coloring.

Pressures on

Well it looks like I ran out of time, too much stuff going on around this time of year. I still want to finish this and hopefully use this same thread to do it. In the future I hope to model her in mudbox when I learn how to use that.

Here is my near complete line art. I have been taking it slow since the deadline has passed. I think the coloring stage should get me back into it.

#15

Ok finally finished this one. I know I am way past the deadline but I just wanted to get it done.

Thanks to all who took the time to comment along the way.

I am still open to suggestion if any one has one.
