Latest W.I.P. update.

I think I will continue updating in this way. Editing the first entry

////////////

Hello Everyone!
This is my first time so lets see how it goes

I decide to create an abomination and to do it I wrote a couple of lines to start getting a direction. This is a very initial phase of the character’s story so i tried to keep it as wide as possible. I think as it goes It will become more and more detailed so will be evident in the character’s design.
After the text I will post some of the initials sketches.
Thanks for your comments.

Characters Story>

The story tells that in one of the many orphanages created right after the beginning of the apocalypse a nun known as Sister Mary was killed in the most indescribable way and in front of such horrible end, her spirit transformed in an abomination driven by an extreme violence, a highly developed deceptive tactic and a taste for killing and destroying any animated being who comes across it. As once it attacks were considered as myths now that the dimensional rifts are wide open nothing will stop itÂ’s destructive joy.

Hey Ricardo,

Really great sketches and concept, cool!! The arms with a crab style claw look awesome. And like a lot your back story for the abomination. The idea of the insect type wings is cool touch on the design  (muy chido concepto, te la estas rifando en verdad :D) Again, great work! Cheers!!

Hi everyone!
Here is maybe the last sketch, I feel there is a bunch of small details that I still should make a decision about, but I think I should move to the modeling and character sheets since there is still a lot to design and the sketch for the final illustration. What do you think about the placement of the CGS logo? and what about the robe, do you think looks silly?

great work man! I really like the design for the wings!

I really do hate bugs… so for me this is a very creepy creature. But in this case creepy in a good way.
Really cool concept here.
A very good start… i wonder how this will turn out.
Good luck mate

Hi All,
This is the latest sketch, I’m still not sure about some details so I’m already working on the next one which I think will be the definitive.
I’m trying to render the idea in a clearer way so I could understand better the forms in order to start with the character and modeling sheets. I think I will post the first one before the weekend.

Hi everybody. Here is the concept sheet.
Thanks for your coments.
Best.

Cool design, and the story behind it is insane. I love how you’ve turned a sweet nun into a deceptive rage-driven moth-demon.

#15

Thanks Gerardo,
I love your character, it flows really nice and as you said, it has some Lovecraft air.

Hi everyone, well I managed to finish the coloring. I might change and refine some details but somehow there is something in the painting that I don’t quite like. I really don’t know what it is. So i thought the best would be to rely in some fresh eyes. What do you think?

MrRico!
Hey Man, I like what you have going on here. I’ll tell you some thoughts that I have upon viewing your latest update. Upon first glance, it appears that everything is separated by a harsh line, probably from cut and past, or from using selections and stuff. If you really want to solidify your painterly feeling, I would paint along some of the edges of your character to fit him in your background better and try to lose the harsh edges.
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know much about color. But when I look at your picture, it also seems that everything is colored separately and each part is in its own world. I think this enhances the issue noted above. try to bring some of the background lighting / color into your character so that he sits better in the environment. Also, a trick I use is to get a soft brush and eyedrop the background color, then paint some subtle atmosphere over things that are farther back. For instance, the edge of that building at the top of the painting. Just to make the transition less harsh.
I really like the work on the wings, you’ve created a very cool effect there! Hope this helps! It’s coming out very cool!
