Very nice. I really like the colours you went with… and well, the whole thing.

#122

Very cool concept indeed. your painting skills are impressive, looking forward to seeing it finished!

#123

thanks guys…

uff I ant see this piece anymore... :banghead: heres an update. worked on the details… and background…
critique and comments are welcome

#124

Said it before and I’ll say it again - stunning work.

I really like the direction you’re taking this. Coming along smashingly!

The only thing I can think that it’s missing is a bit of mysticism…

He is a Claricon after all, so a practitioner of magic? I think some subtle glow/highlights to indicate that he’s casting or is encompassed by magic.

If that’s not the way you want to take it, I understand, but personally I think the piece would benefit from a little bit of “magic”

#125

Hey man! Very nice progress! Your character really turned out awesome… I’d like to see some more drama/exitement in your composition, you dont nessecerily need action, stuff happening if you dont like to. But right now it looks really calm, a bit sad maybe, dont know if its something you’d prefer. Maybe play with the composition to create some tension and excitement… Use the light, shapes, every element and try to sense the image rather than analysing it, dont stop experimenting until you get that feeling your searching for! Keep up the great work m8! I’ll be watching…

Dude, awesome color man! Really like the golden brownish look, has those old classical scenic painting feel.

#127

Faithbleed. thanks for the good advice. your 100% right this piece needs magic… I`m working on it… thanks a lot.

FrozZT. thanks you helped a lot. I`m working on the drama and the mystic feel… The picture is in my oppinion also too bright…

AlienKing. thanks.

#128

what this picture needs in my opinion isa dark tree(or something different) in the right side of the canvas…there was a tree, I don’t why you erase it…this colors are trully look sad, not mistical. This greeny version was better for me;] Faithbleed said something about magic effects. I think a halo around your chracater’s head could be nice(something like in one of my first images for DW,but not metal of coarse;])

#129

I’m really quite blown away by this concept, mate! Really original, solid work. The character has a wonderful rhythm and I feel like it’s incredibly mysterious compared to the average creature design. Super super! Best of luck, man!

#130

PencilEater. Thanks for the good ideas…

…added some mysticism:) check it out. The composition is working for me… but there are still 12 days to go, still a long way (hmm… maby not as long as in the beginning…) to go.
also a detail shot…
please criticize. the guys before made a good job:beer:

Looking really stellar, mate. The only thing that catches my eye in a way that might not be intended is the leg on the left side. All of the swirls make it look a bit more like feathers than bark to me. The leg on the right clearly depicts bark with the straighter planks heading toward the knee.

Lovely!~

Yeah, this is coming along really well. The colours are suited to the mood and the composition is almost there.

A couple of things, though: first, I prefer the faded background in post #123, it makes the character pop more. I think that background, if you toned down the brightness a little, in combination with slightly larger antlers would look good. Then, a few more well-placed tendrils rising up on the right where that one already is (with some lower contrast ones in the background) would add depth and balance the composition perfectly.

Also, I’m not keen on the blue lines. I think that some good lighting and shading on those antlers to make them seem really solid will have a better effect than the lines, which to my eyes makes the antlers look flat and fussy.

#133

staticpen. Critique appreciated, Thanks

Simon: Thanks for passing by. Im glad you like it and ill take your advices to heart.

#134

I actually adore the lines on the antlers. I find them to bring this character a lot of personality and originality.

#135

Dude, you sure have an winning entry… I cannot criticize, just cheer you up for this force of nature.

#136

Wow, stellar update MR.

Looking great!

I like the magical effect, it’s subtle which seems to be the way you work. I love how you refuse to compromise when it comes to your designs.

The antlers “lines” tie in nicely with the glow effect of his skull/body - though it may be a too consistent. My suggestion would be to make the lines glow/fade in and out as they go - it would give the impression of a live, pulsing, magical “blood” (the ebb and flow of something living).

As BaronImpossible mentioned, the lines seem a little out of place, I think it may be more to do with your colour choice as bright blue doesn’t appear very often in nature. Perhaps a more greenish hue would make a less drastic impact?

The other thing I think would make this a little more lively would maybe be some sort of magic or life force being draining out of your dieing soldier - sublte of course. At the moment, you can’ tell that Cyclamen is responsible for his death. Something needs to tie them together.

As always, keep up the great work and take my comments with a grain of salt if you don’t agree.

#137

staticpen: Dont worry Ill keep the lines, but maybe i make them a little darker. Simon is right, now they make the antlers look fussy.

Abrvpt: we`ll see:curious:. thanks

Faithbleed. Thanks man. I`m very happy about such comments like yours. Good idea with the lines…In an earlier stage i did a lot of colour test for thr lines and this colour workes best for me.
And abot the dying robot; I had the same idea:cool:

thanks:beer:

#138

a little update!.. The end is near.

#139

I can’t say I have much else to say now except that I really dig it, and well done.

#140

Hey there MR, this is really taking shape, the blue magic blood thing gives a creepy and silent power feel which I thing is right on. I do think he still looks a little flat, but then again I don’t know much about this kind of stuff. Keep it up, and thanks again for all your useful advice.
