are you not going to do the blue wings? they are cool… they should have a translucent effect from some back lighting. i like the staff and the cgs implementation. you know how the texture changes between the stomach and belt area… it’s a bit harsh.
overall, very cool stuff. i love it mads!

Firerbert: Yup you are right, less time is remaining. I will try my best to make it look good with lighting. And yeah thanx for reminding me, I almost forgot Pedestal. Thanx Dude:)

blindsyte: I’m still confused should I use insect wings or Blue swirly wings. But then my charcter is an elf insectoid. And yeah you are right I need to fix texture between stomach and belt area. Thanx for suggestions dude:)

#88

definintely go with the blue wings… oh, and you need to make his legs kind of hairy… you know, by using image planes with little hair sprites painted on them with alpha. it would up the creep factor by 3.7132. oh, and make the hair sprites different sizes to vary the look, eh?

#89

Looking great dude,keep going.

#90

I have done some basic rigging and added lightning fx using opacity map. Also I have added some lights in max.

#91

Below are the textures. Normal, Diffuse, AO, glow map, opacity map.

#92

One close up render:)

#93

blindsyte: Actually I have decided to go with insect wings for now, I’m not quiet happy with swirly wings:). For hair I don’t have much polycounts left, lets see If I’m able to add some planes for hair then I will definetely do it. Thanx for suggestions dude:).

SONIC-X: Thanx Dude:beer:

#94

I think the wings dont really make him any more agressive. Id get rid of them, and use the extra polies to build him some hair, or a helmet.
Its looking prettu good right now.

#95

Cool, lookin like a game character!

Airflow’s got a a point that the wings currently detract from the Bad-Ass look, but i still like em to be there.
Maybe try changing the shape a bit ?

  • Make the tips a bit more pointed
  • Make the top edges a bit more flat, if you know what i mean

#96

hi looks great…
I thing check blue light its not match… just sugestion…

Lets rock:thumbsup:

#97

I have changed his wings. And modeled a pedestal.

#98

Airflow: Wings are important for him, so that he can fly and defend. I have changed his wings

LavenPillay: Thanx for replying. I have changed his wings little bit:).

somu01: Hey thanx dude:). I have just changed the colour of spot light to blue. So that colour of lightning fx can be seen on his body.

#99

Yes, the wings look much better. But when you designed them they should have looked like they could get his weight airborne. I would have gone for a beetle type wing, and made them massive and imposing, its far more threatening now than before so its ok.
I love the staff.

What’s most detracting from his wings is the opacity map you have applied. Where all the black lines are, there should be some form or definition of what the actual wing or paper thing part is attached to. There should be some specular definition and color variation. Right now you can see through every part of the wings when you should only be able to see through the paper thing parts. Now you could have it made out that way already, but from the way the renders looks, it appears that in your opacity map, the black parts are pure white and the wings are a mid to light grey. The pure white should be black in the opacity map.

Concept is cool, texture looks ok, but I’m not a big fan of his weapon or the way his legs bend or his weapon. Could use a lot more detailing on the face as well.Good work.

#102

Wow

That looks crazy good

#103

Hi everybody, here is my beauty render:). I’m just trying to finish it now:D fully loaded with work.

#104

Looking good, very cool effect with his weapon on the beauty image.

Tiny crit thought, move the character backwards just a bit. With 1000x1000, at least on my tiny screen its impossible to grasp your entire character.
And I would turn his head another 5-10 degrees or so, so he dont stair straight into the camera.

#105

Haven’t seen this in a long time and it has turned very cool now! :scream:

I agree with Firerbert in that the wing’s structure seems too monotonic. Maybe one thing you can employ is to put main, thicker veins and reduce the secondary/tertiary veins’ thickness (see this, this). Hopefully you can manage to find time for this though.
