Ok I’ve decided on my characters class and artifact weapon,
Warlord & Fire/Lava
I wanted to create an unusual character type, did a few sketches but wasn’t getting anywhere, so I went with a bipedal muscular beast.
His weapon is the head of a magical lion or bear. He was probably hungry and didn’t want to waste the head when he finished eating the rest of the animal.
Here are a few thumbnails, and I’ll start working on a more detailed drawing soon.

Hey man, so far the silhouettes look pretty standard beast man thingy, would be nice to see something a bit different. Have you thought of a name for him/it yet? maybe that would be a good place to start with design.

Hey man, how about making his animal head into his weapon - like a sort of stylish, imposing egyptian god / minotaur helmet that gives him magical powers?

do some thumbnails in zbrush, i’ve seen you zbrush stuff before and it rocks. You’re clearly a being from a higher dimension.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments, always welcome, I’ll definitely take those suggestions on board.
I’ve named my character GONJOLOZ: old cypriot word for monsters in story books.

Been trying some different ideas, but I keep coming back to a beast type structure, so I’ve decided to go along with that.
I want to get down his proportions and anatomy before I think about armour and accessories. Not sure whether or not to give him horns, or maybe just big ears that could create a horned type silhouette.
This is another quick sketch which I’m kind of happy with structure wise. I think the next step for me is to create a model sheet and use that to make a base mesh. I’ll use that to try out some things in zbrush.

I can tell that the process will be quite organic for you, I really want to see the name drive the feeling behind the model because I think theres a lot in a name, but maybe thats me being weird - who knows?
I can’t wait to see your Zbrush stuff :bounce:, show us a base mesh next maybe?

Thanks Nath, I think you’re right about giving character based on the name, I’ll keep that in mind. haha, don’t think I’ll be making him quite as huge as the guy in that pic:), but he’ll probably turn out pretty big.
I’ve done a model sheet, like I said before, I’ll use this to make a base mesh, then I’ll worry about accessories.

I’ve been working on the base mesh, nothing worth posting yet, but I realised I havn’t got much of an idea about what to do with the head:shrug: . So I did some sketches of the head from spheres. Not realy happy with any of them, so I’ll keep trying. Any ideas?
