DWIII-3D-Darren White-Nemus Everto

Neat stuff so far! Of the last posts, I prefer the top renders better - for a vegetation guy, I really like the horms being tree-branches (or branch-like.) It’sd a fun idea that works visually. Without the horns, it’s just dreadlocks, and the simple horns just aren’t as creative as the top idea. Good luck with the remainder!

#19

I agree with walrus the branch horns suits your character and the others are too simple.
Great character by the way.
I had this Idea ,perhaps you may want to to put an animal or creature living inside of a horn it could be like his pet or just a fool animal that thought it was just a tree .

#20

gyorkland: nice idea, I was thinking along similar lines myself. In my original concept i had a dodo and a vulture nesting in the branches. Not sure i’ll have enough polys left with all these branches and vines tho’. I’m going to retopologise when the sculpt is finish so i’ll see how I get on. I’m sure i’ll be able to squeeze something in.

#21

pretty cool character, the idea of the branches gives your character more interesting

#22

sweet dude. here’s some suggestions:

make the seed /orb artifact visible but embedded.

An animal is still worth considering - put a squirrel in there somewhere - only a few polys needed. or an empty bird nest with eggs (no bird since it moves around and scares the bird away) as a unique touch.

good luck…

#23

any updates? Come on I am getting impatient.

#24

Sorry Rob haven’t had a chance to work on this at all this week. i doubt i’ll finish at this rate. not long to go now.

#25

looks cool man… i really like the arms…
now u should move ahead with the lowpoly and textures… not much time left :stuck_out_tongue:
i mydelf i getting screwed due to time…
neways keep up the good work

#26

OK, so i’ve finally textures this guys high res model, I will transfer the normals diffuse and occlusion as soon as i’ve finished the low. Its still in pieces and needs some decent uvs. I’d like to sculpt up this guy a little more but i wont get a chance to do anything further with the low res still needing work. Plus its my other halfs 30th this week and she’ll get mad if i spend that working on DW3! She’s pretty mad today as i haven’t changed a single nappy all day (thats an english diaper btw). hopefully i’ll get this done in time. if not then i’ll still finish it relatively soon.

#27

more angles

#28

Looks great - the bark skin texture was a good move. you’re going to make it!!

#29

ey up!
Just the armour and horns to go, shiny metal is my tuppence worth. I know tiz a nightmare when u already work such long hours but you can still just about finish. Great work Darren.

#30

is it finished yet???!!!

#31

cool dude! the profile with the symbol looks perticularly monsterous! and i like the sqwirl thats funny haha
im not feeling the red light though, makes it look to clutered :-/

#32

Great work darren, he looks realy mean. I realy like his profile, the way his head is part of his torso. Good work on the textures, they’ve added alot of life to him. My favourite part is his big tree hand, I like the way it hangs on the floor, feels heavy. Want to see him posed now.

Its 2.56 am here in old blighty and this is probably the earliest i’ve been off to bed all week. but finally i’m done! my entry has all been submitted to the game artisans site and below are the images i posted.

Thanks for all the great feedback and crits guys, this is actually my first post and i’ve really enjoyed the whole experience although i haven’t enjoyed the lack of sleep.

Jase and Rob you’ve both been a great help with decision making . you both know how bad i am at that and without your input i’d have given up by now or still been at the concept stage. anyway i’m waffeliing on…its late and i really need slepp, so time for bed. here’s the pics. let me know what you think.

Final images:

Name: Nemus Everto

Thanks for the help, I’m gonna give it a shot today now. You’ve done a great job, really like the images, get some sleep for a second and then I believe you still have a family! Definately some of the best stuff I’ve seen and one of the only finished entries I’ve seen.

#35

Good job all round, the squirrel is the bomb. Not literally a bomb. You know what I mean. Let’s all take next week off work as a reward!

#36

Now this guy looks grounded! and if anyone tries to mess with him they’ll be barking up the wrong tree (my humour is in endless supply).

I love the twist in the horns, nice detail. maaan, he looks about 10,000 years old, really good weight in that tree arm!

He’s also making me hungry, i’m getting some salad.

well done in finishing, i’m off to sleep!

Good luck!

#37

Great job darren, he looks awsome.
You realy got all those details, horns, twigs, leaves and squirrel in there under 9000 tris :applause:
I realy like the pic where he’s walking, scary. And the leaves look wicked.
Good luck dude.
