DWIII - 2D WIP - Warlord (no name yet)

#8

Cool concept pal! and done very quickly:)

#9

Thanks for the encouragement and nice comments, folks! The final would obviously be much more detailed but I would like to maintain the stylized nature of the drawing. Not sure how that will go over for the contest itself but oh well… it will be fun regardless!

Name and story TBD since I am still not sure if I am going with this guy or not…

#10

Cool character and nice paint. Keep in mind you need to have at least 6 thumbnail sketches for the 2D requirements.

#11

Yep, yep! Gonna do more fo sho…

AIPX, eh? Tell Mr. Missal and Mr. Hedgpeth I said hey!

#12

Love the concept!

#13

Greats volumes and lines … as usual with ensemble studio artists.
Give him a big pet with big teeth !

#14

awesome character so far, and i really like the shading in his arm, though i think it might look more interesting if he(?) was turned just slightly more towards the “camera”

also, and maybe it’s just me, but i think he looks like a Milo, dunno why…

#15

Sketch number 2… not sure how I feel about this one but will keep going…

#16

Looking really nice. Both images feel a lot like Blizzard concept art, and that’s a very good thing.

I really don’t have much constructive to say at this point, so… Keep pumping out concepts; I want more eye candy.

#17

well i definitely dig your first one more, but this one is still pretty rocking.

#18

First image totally rocks. It looks like a potential winner to me.
Just one thing, I kind of like when there isnt too much of the good stuff, but I think you might need to do “more” of him. If the guy was a random enemy in a game, you would need to make a boss-conversion of him in order to win. Symbols on his armor, crown on his (/her?) head.

Btw, he would also work very well with a water theme, looming over the pond watching his own reflections. Plastic-wrap kind of skin or fishscales. Perhaps too much warcraft?

#19

I love the stylised proportions of the second character. Makes him have more attitude. However, I do like the helmet and also the magic spear thing of your first concept. Maybe you can combine the two?

#20

very beautiful your concepts man. I liked the second.
good job!

#21

They both look great. The first one has the feel of an Invoker while the second feels like a Warlord. Nice work so far. Goodluck!

#22

Thanks so much, everyone, for the compliments! Finally found a smidge of time to do another…

So here’s an idea for a male Gorgon-Invoker type guy… thing…
He acts as a protector of the relic.

#23

WIN! love the latest one!!
great style, great pose and the fact he is a creepy snake monster puts it over the top for me…

#24

I like the 2nd concept. The one with all the streamers off his back. He looks a little unintelligent though. Maybe a bad ass mask would hide that. All your concept look good though. Cant wait to see which one you go with.

#25

I Think The Last One Is The Best It Looks Bigger But It Needs Some Armor

#26

Thanks!

I agree he should have some armor but I wany to keep it as minimal as I can since he relies more on magic than might.

I’m also gonna change the relic that he is hanging from to something more branch-like so that it doesn’t look like he’s hanging from a lamp post. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not sure, at this point, which I am gonna go with…

#27

I had started a really quick color concept… will make those changes mentioned earlier in the next pass…
