trying to figure out the pose.

also a silhouette for he model sheet. I used the one on the concept sheet, just cleaned it up a bit but adding/removing branches, giving him a neck, fixed chest.

plan is to flesh out the final pose and then do the concept sheet as I figure the CS won’t take as long as the beauty shot. so all day at work my mind fried over what to make him do or pose like. My big issue was to make sure I showed the viewer all the detail that flows behind him (ie: the rooty back and third leg). posing him just at the side was boring to me. He needs to be doing something. I came up with a few ideas like:
1 - him standing on a cliff, birds flying around him (think hippos with the birds on their back) but since he is so huge, they’d be little M’s. That idea also led to the idea of flowing water through his root feet, which still could be cool.
2 - a heard of these tree beast giants. after watching 10000 BC last night (horrible movie BTW and I’m glad I did not pay to see it…great CG though), I got the idea of a herd of these, elders, female?, younger smaller giants, in the middle of a grass land, and in the foreground having a bunch of soldiers of some sort prepare to take them on. But again, I only kept hitting that block of the side view. again, interesting idea.
3 - a battle scene, where again the foreground consits of soldiers but this time scrambling to take Syness out. It would be a huge action shot, so the FG would be blurry. Syness would be kicking or stomping soldiers away (to show scale). this is probably the one I went with, but a little differently.
Changes I made to Syness:
The scene I’m shooting for now:
like I said in #3, Im doing a battle scene. but I did figure out a pose. Just trying to get it right! here is the pose:

i also have a version 2 of the concept sheet.

let me know what ya think!
going with a dynamic pose instead of trying to figure out what to do with the background and foreground. keeping it simple!
update. lots more to come this week as i will be going late into the nights trying to finish.
oooo rah!

Hey Dimitrios, The character its evolving in deed and pretty fast! Great! you really want the war, thats the spirit…![]()
As for your character, the value its going well the bg looks yet a bit weak, but maybe you haven’t get to that layer yet in the posting process? His position its going well is he going to match any army of robots or something alike? … The grass looks a bit too big or small I dont know the reference for his size its hard to tell yet? Keep up the good work; I hope to see some colors later! And hurry up! :arteest:
an update! added birds, more rubble and clouds and stuff.
I can’t decide if i want to add the hill in the back or not.
personally, i like it without.
what you think?
with hill

with no hill.

coloring begins tonight!!
getting off to the colors. finish them today/tonight and bolt on the model sheet.
I have confidence I’ll get them done. maybe not to exactly I want…but I will.
here is a color update

winning pose complete for now. if i have time later i will tweak it a bit more. but for now, this is it.

annnnd modeling sheet.
not the best but its going to have to do.
I’m about 50/50 happy with this. But again, it was mostly for a learning, fun experience.
good luck to all! some really sweet entries. can’t wait to see who the winner is!
might still tweak some of these before i hit the submit button.
