Hi guys,

So I wasn’t happy with the proportions and the pose, things need tweaking and i’ve been looking at her for too long, so please help with these 2 things before i go playing with costume ideas.

I also took some sound advice and a great idea from Kemkem and made the jewel into one of those contact juggling balls, so know her foes will be even more hypnotised and stunned - not just by her boobs.

so, any tips on proportion and pose?

love you.

#24

hey buddy, the new sketch looks great. the pose is realy dynamic, even though she’s just standing there, and the hands look perfect. don’t ever lie again about not being able to draw hands.

#25

Hey thanks Kem, I wouldn’t have altered it had it not been for your keen eyes and criticism which is worth 1000 compliments, any day!

cheers buddy.

I’ve been working on ideas for the costume, developing the head and shoulders in a hope that this might drive the rest of the design process.

what say you?

#27

I dig the shape of 6 and detail of 1…

#28

thanks Jason, yeah, I think I need to draw more of these. You’re right, 6 has a strong shape but I need to show the face some more I think. …hmmms…

#29

One of the best pieces for me! Congratulations!!!

#30

same as jasonjuta , 1 and 6 are the best.

seems odd that some of your sketches look so different in style. i think it is because for some of them you use photoreferences, and for me those are your strongest ones ( apart from the first hood  ).

nice concept style

PowRiver: Thanks man, I like your painting technique.

nikudy: yeah, I agree with you entirely and it’s something I’m always struggling with - style consistency, as is evident in this next jpg.

MikeyH: cheers!

Using reference from photos I am experimenting here with facial features, trying to add a bit of tiger animalism.
Although I like the drawing I will have to force myself to stylize and characterize her more, this looks too direct because I have a allowed the photo of the girl to preside - this should be reserved for exercise only.

#33

WOW! That’s a lot of fine concepts  Your workflow differs a lot compared to mine. I tend to just continue the same drawing, until I get everything right. Then I maybe make some more detailed close-ups of certain elements.

By the way: I like no.6

Cool stuff Nave, love your later stuff. Makes me want to crack on with a 3D model.

You should come and work with me at Nexus.

#35

man, haven’t posted in aaages. I got the basic shape of the head down so now I can work on the rest of her body and if I have time some finer facial features.
I plan to do a with hood / without hood version also. I guess she wears her hood to keep hidden from the … mAcHiNeees…

I had trouble trying to visualise how she looks from the front.

#36

A few quick poses of Hood in outfit.

#37

Nice concept. The last image made me think of a project I made with C.P.Company. They make really cool jackets with built in goggels. I think it would be really cool if the glasses opd your character were built into the hood, which she folds down when she uses them.

Keep up the good work

those ink sketches are gorgeous! I’m very jealous. i like the poses on your latest stuff too, good distribution of weight.

you’re definitely hitting the post apocalyptic mark, but it could use a twinge more fantasy. perhaps a few tweaks to the clothing and some fantasy-like embroidery or markings?

it might be nice to have a bit more asymmetry too. there was a photo you showed earlier with a woman with some big feathers in her hair. something like that might make a cool shoulder decoration.

personally, i’ve never been a big fan of high heels on active characters that have to fight or run around a lot. don’t get me wrong, high heels are incredibly sexy, but they have their place. perhaps something more like high heel boots? that way you could still get that nice arc of the foot, but it’s a bit more functional.

here’s a quick paint over with some reference. i can’t wait to see the final entry!

#39

The one to the left looks real great. Much mystery in it.

#40

miscik: Thanks for the paintover, it’s awesome to see someone actually have the balls to do that, it’s a much easier way to communicate an idea or two, pictures say a thousand words.
You’re right when you say “needs more fantasy”, i’m thinking of using the logo as a tattoo around her navel - that could be pretty sexy. Aslo I like the idea of her left hand having a large glove, maybe to protect her skin from the intensity of the orb. and yeah, boots are better than high-heels and can sure as hell be just as sexy!

eEe: Hey, I like that idea so much i’m going to give it a shot - thanks man, and thank you for taking the time to send me a link, those jackets are ace.

MartinNielsen: cheers man, yeah, i really want to try and keep the mystery and still show a fair bit of skin, quite the challenge.
