DWIII- 2D - NathanMckenna - Hood

[font=Verdana]Hood is a Star Child, that means she’s feisty and can get a bit hot under the collar but apart from that she’s doing pretty well as the chosen artifact wielder.
The Star Children, though sounding like a cartoon for 6 year olds from the 80’s, are actually a kick ass race. Created by the stars themselves they are the only sentient beings that can live on the suns of galaxies’.
Hood is able, with the most awesome protective power of the sun Glove, to wield the one and only effective weapon against the machines, The Sacred Sun.
The Sacred Sun is the most powerful star in the universe and it’s force can be wrought only by the most perfect of Star Children.

Isn’t that cute?

Heeeeey nath, great concepts man.
I was just about to post a reply when you added the new images. I was going to say I’m realy digging the 2nd mermaid image. Her costume looks realy cool and unique. I like the extra long tail fin too. It would be cool to see how you can develope that further.
From the new characters, I like the Sprinter, Fizz and Hood. Can’t decide wich is my fav.
Lets see some colour on the mermaid.

Greetings comrades, late starter here, just some quick ideas straight from the void of my mind.

Here’s some thumbs I did for basic shape ideas, I really want to stay away from the classic “thug” warrior class type, so no Warlords.

The line up is as follows:[b]

Huntress[/b]
Class: Stalker
Haven’t thought up much story or powers yet - help me?

Sprinter
Class: Stalker
This little creature is extremely agile and quicker than a fart in the wind. Sprinter needs a magical artefact, probably Gummy Bear juice - to make him faster than light or something, “HA! try and stop me now you advanced washing machines and coffee makers…”

Fizz
Class: Stalker
Fizz has a set of cool ass gems set into the palms of her hands - they look like little eyes and when she closes her hands she turns into gas, so no naked flames please, smokers, leave the building.

Hood
Class: Invoker/Clericon
Hood is wise and stuff, completing an extra hard soduko puzzle for him is like us doing the cross word in on the back of that batman comic you still have from when you were 9.
He has these little gems that do something cool - but what!!? HELP.

Moan
Class: Clericon
This guy is crazy, he looks really harmless but when he opens his mouth all he does is moan and moan his enemies to boredom, they give up and go home.
He has a staff with a magic light on the top that hypnotises his foes into submission… then he just walks off to moan about something else. …typical!

I really like Sprinter but what do you think? who would you date?

Thanks dude, I think I’ll take Sprinter, Fizz and Hood a step further and see what happens there.
As for the mermaid, yeeeeah, I dunno, we’ll see, I like mermaids, ever since I fell in love with Ariel - she’s well fit. So maybe thats enough to keep me going with her, but in the olden days sailors were led to their deaths by psiren mermaids…so we should all learn from that story, yeh.

I like Hood best. Also Sprinter looks good, but that thing with the gems made me laugh too much.

Thanks Nikudy, yeah, hood is pretty cool but he doesn’t talk much, only when it’s very necessary. Thats why it’s so hard to find out what those damn gems actually do.

Hey I love your entry for DWII - :scream: pretty kick ass, will you be doing something similar for DWIII?

Those are some whacked-out stories you got going there! I love them! :smiley:
They could all potentially be great, but the Sprinter is probably my favorite…made me think of the faun-creature from the lovely Brackenwood-films. http://youtube.com/watch?v=pCxPEB-uu20

Other than that, the mermaid at the bottom looks rather wonderful too.

Really love the first look on Sprinter and Hood. I feel Sprinter got something special going on :stuck_out_tongue: Just can’t figure out exactly what it is.

Hi Nathan.

Great sketches, you have here, don’t you? My favorites are the first, the huntress, and the 2nd mermaid. When I look to your huntress, she looks related to earth powers, for some reason. Maybe she could be “absorved” by the earth, to make easier her aproximation of her preys. She would just emerge suddenly, when the poor creature didn’t had more time to react… It would be a good power. Or another, she could use her weapon to throw some big amounts of earth and rocks over her enemies, leting them tied up over the earth.

As you can see I’m a source of wacky ideas :stuck_out_tongue: Huhahaha, don’t mind. Keep it up, man, I’ll be watching this topic.

jramauri: Thanks for the compliments and story suggestions! I’m just about to post some mood drawings from reference that maybe mix your suggestion, in a visual way at least.
I can imagine Hood using some sort of staff to force/shovel huge amounts or earth in a forward sweeping motion! - more ideas are welcome guys!! :thumbsup:

BluntPencil: Glad you like the ideas man and that animation you sent me is really cool and very similar to the movement I imagine Sprinter to have - thanks mate.

Shivath: I thinks its the ears on him, they’re very big and cute, I think I need to look at hares for reference to take him further.

So I went image browsing to get ideas for Hood.
Now I think the gems should be super white bright [color=Pink]powerful little bastards[color=#fffffe] that blind/confuse enemies.[/color]
[/color]I really want Hood to be female because I like the idea of a girl kicking some robot ass and then maybe fixing her make-up because hey, killing robots is messy work guys.

I’m thinking about losing the hood because I really want to decorate the hair/head but what do you guys think?

The drawings/storylines in your previous posts made me laugh so hard especially moan. I really like sprinter and hood but I’m really diggin the new hood. I liked her better with a hood though because it makes her more mysterious in looks and personality. The Asian headress looks good too. Your concepts are badass and I can’t wait to see some more.

Very nice concepts indeed, I like Hood the most I would say. Just looks like someone you really don’t want to mess with and will never get close to unless you had some wicked powers as well. As for taking the hood off I would say you can leave it but the hood seems pretty big enough to also add accessories you may have wanted as well. Keep up the good work on the research as well nice job overall.

Thanks people! Well, it looks like you really want me to keep that hood in somehow, i’ll see what I can do.

After exploring the Hood character, it looks as if I really want to come up with a hybrid of Hood and Hunter.
Heres some thumbnails of shape ideas, after this I really need to disipline myself and commit to developing a shape, exploring variations.

thanks man. i hope to do something nastier this year. I couldn’t get a clear idea what to do but today things started to settle.

i think you shoud number your thumbs, they are so many and my english not that good. it would take me days to explain wich ones i like.

from the internet browsing post i think it’s a good idea to show some skin like in the first image. you could show a bit of her breasts, the cloth beginning in the same place as the nipples.
the feathers could go on her staf, top end.
also you could combine the garment from the first image with the feathers.

Quick sketch with some crazy color. I really need to play about with costume ideas, I fear the creep of generic’ness. So if anyone has crazy ideas, please help me out, the crazier the better.
That is still meant to be a hood btw, right now it looks like a helmet.
and I think she needs hair showing too.
