hey guys~

im pretty late on this…sorry about that…

name : RAMINUS (meaning wise and famouns)

class : Invoker

artifacts : summoning ( legless monsters ) using 11 orbs

behind story : After his sister died from awaking machines, he lost his two eyes from them and became dark invoker using forbidden summoning spells. He was originally really tender wise guy and loved natures and any life forms but his sister’s death made him cold killer. His potential power is too strong to control, so the armor which was made of white dragons’ skins and bones suppress his power a little and 11 jewels on it activate and control his power. Growing hornes and spikes on his helmet and armor show that he already fused into the armor and his power congestion would come soon…

i did some quick sketches…i’ll do more

Cool design, but yes, you only have a couple of weeks. You could still make it, but that’s entirely up to you mate!

i did more idea sketches…i still like the first one thou.

so i started painting the first one…tried color variations…
and kinda like the red one…and started rendering it…


guys, give me some critiques.
i’m rushing it so i might finish this one ASAP and do orthou thou…
I’m thinking about what kind of environments would fit into it…
if you guys have good ideas, let me know~
this guy would be mainly using weapons related fire for attacking.

I really enjoy watching your works progression from sketch to more detailed, more finished completion.
I was wondering what resolution / dpi etc, you work in? Or what is your method, your painting i assume is digital work. What programs did you use if i may ask? I am not the best digital painter and am always seeking advice or new ideas.

You were asking for weapon ideas? I get the impression that this character is more of a hand to hand kinda character, or a grappler maybe. Spikes on armor are not aggressive but defensive it seems. Maybe you can incorporate them into slicing, or i was thinking like tubes or funnels to inject fire/heat/lava into his opponents? Maybe he has a artifact guantlet.
Just ideas!

i’ll try what you suggested for weapons…
i also thought about fire+electric attacks from spikes…or he could chant a spell and shoot some patterns or figures like anime “Kujakuoh”…i don know…hehe

about how i work, i usually start sketching and do color thumb in 2000pixel (100dpi)
and as i render and refine, i make it bigger like 6000 pixel (300dpi).
and i usually use photoshop for painting…use some kind of brushes that i made using texture, dual brush or other features in brush option window…and use photos for texture or subtle color variations…and…i use masking layer for changing color later…hope it will help :slight_smile:

Well, I think that this is freakin’ GOOD!

The cloth piece could use some texture elements or ornaments. Right now it’s a pretty big surface that coule be broken up a little more. Same goes for the shins…
Head and chest design is awesome! Sweet backdrop as well!

Question remains: where’s the artifact? You’re still thinking that up I assume?

yeah…i would put more details on the clothes and shins as well. thanks for the suggetstions.
the artifact would be the blue orb on the chest…i totally forgot about that…
i would do detailed sketches about that.

I agree, I think you need to make that more clear. Right now the orb just looks like it’s a aprt fo his costume, it’s not apparent that it’s a weapon. It’s also not immediately clear whcih oof the magic types it uses, and it probably should be more evident. As beautiful as this picture is - and it and all of your sketches are really gorgrous, don’t get me wrong! - it feels like you could take this a lot further with a less static pose and showing him using his magic artifact in some way.

But anyhow, really nice work so far, I love how dynamic your sketches are and the colors are really lovely too. Good luck!

i just remebered…when i did background sketches, i thought artifact would be the summoned snake-looking mosters…you can see them in his back…and blue orb is the main control jem which activates summoning. After he summons them, he casts some special spells to strengthen them or make them faster, duplicate them or etc…

Very interesting design. I like that you’ve kept the line work in your pose image. What I think you can work on some more now is the shading and highlights so that he has more depth and variety of materials. It’s coming along nicely. Good luck.

Your Invoker looks awesome!:thumbsup: love the dragon skin concept, really well planed as for the power and history behind I like that!, the colors look so good, maybe you still need some more Fx for showing a more dramatic power? Although I have enjoyed all the steps you are going through! Keep going I wish you the best in this war! :wip:
