Thanks StacyOgie. Try not to be deceived by his appearence. I mean… It´s a concept art contest, so why should appearence be important anyway?

Just kidding. Let me talk a litttle about this guy. He´s a Stalker. Some kind of Silent Assassin. That´s why i didn´t make him a huge muscular fella… While i was sketching him i tried to come up with a history for him. Something like this:

Lizziejazz (i´ll call him this way for now…) comes from a planet completely taken by a rain forest. The lizzions (pretend it´s his people name…) are becoming the dominant race in the planet, because they are inteligent, brave, fast and great hunters. They are not a very evolved culture, but they already have some kind of writing, they have their Gods, they already dominate powder and they manufacture a few things. Unfortunatelly for them there are a few huge especies that eats them. But the population of those enemies is decreasing, cause the Lizzions have been fighting them hard and eating them too. Some predators especies no longer exists.

Lizziejazz is a great warrior beneath the Lizzions, because he is one of the few that have learned the art of using magic to enhance his abbilities to run, jump, climb and be a sneak pervet. The perfect Stalker of the race. The silent killer. And he can make noise if he wants too. Some of his arrows have explosive on them.

I need you guys to help me in something. This gun he is holding in those new drawn is called a “Besta” here in Brazil. How is it called in english?

Cool character. But i think you can put some hard edges in the color stuff, its too soft at the moment.

JorgeGecov - Pretty soon i´ll put another painting i´m going to create and i´ll see how your advice works on it.

AlexMarik - Yeah, well… Almost everybody is going on a full armor heavy guy, i guess… Considering my character environment, history and abbilities i´m not so sure he needs it… But i´m putting a few more clothes and details to enhance his background. The first tought was of a guy with just a piece of tissue on the parts and a few stripes tied over the arm. Now he has a few things more…

well i have some suggestions, hope it helps
by now, your character look like some weak moob, its kinda too generic, dont take me bad, but thats what I think, well Ill try to give some suggestions
you could give him a bigger and tougher look, I like the arrow and bow idea, it kinda fits with this race, but you could also give him a cimitar and a shield onto his backs, take a look at these images

Well, the art director (er… the public opinion, i mean…) asked for a tougher heroic guy. No one liked the nice rounded beer belly i created for Lizziejazzz… So here it goes, a new design for a hero from the same specie. I´m just not so sure about he being a Stalker now… Anyway, i liked the design… What you guys think about it?

Hey Carlos. Your char looks good, but I don’t think he looks a tough guy. It’s more like a simple lizzard, with clothes. I think you could add more hard edges on his figure, some sharp shapes on his body or clothes, and work a bit more on his silhouette, to make him look more curvy, disgusting look. It’s too cute by now, on my opinion.

Take a look on the designs of this guy, they are pretty inspiring when you aim to do ugly creatures.

but as amauri said, he could look even tougher, if you work more on the proportions, make him taller, wider in the shoulders…

Thanks for the input, guys, but you made me think about some issues now.

Well… If i put too much armor on him, he won´t be a nice stalker… I mean, he wouldn´t go and get those machine enemies face to face like a warlord would. The idea is that he should be able to sneak in unseen, and destroy them on their back… If someone atacks him, he is not going to stand still and defend the attack. He is going to jump around like a crazy bastard in order not to get hit…

Also his population lives on a hot rain forest. They´re not medieval nights kind of guy… They are more like indians warriors… But good ones, cause they move really fast, and jump and are able to climb walls and stuff like that. Also, i guess, this guy uses magic to be unseen like a chameleon would. At least that´s how i think he´s going to use magic…

So, here comes a question… Should i try to make an original design? Someone that lives on a specific planet, is a warrior, and is going to war… Or should i go for the classic ''everybody loves Lord of the ring armature muscular guy". I don´t think i´ll be beetwen the 50 best jobs, but i sure wanna try… So, what you guys say?

nice stuff mate!! If you wanna make him look more like a tough guy. Try work on the jaw line…more like a dinossaur …more square, something like that. But is looking good so far, keep it up!

Thanks Vinicius. I think i want to stick with this Lizzion race, so i guess i´ll have fun creating some more villagers in order to see what happens. So, be sure i´ll take a look on this jaw you just suggested. Perhaps i end up with a warlord, or something else. The worst possibilitie is i end up with a lot of characters. Doesn´t sound so bad, right?

Pegorari - Battletoads was such an awesome game, man!! I didn´t realized it had some similarity, but now that you mentioned… Cool!!

Anyway! After a few rushed days in the day job, and a lot of not so good sketches, i decided maybe i should try to change directions a little bit… Here is a try on an involker that summonens a giant mutherfreaker, hehe…

And here he comes again. I made a lot of sketches in order to get to this guy, but i´m having problems scanning them now… I´m in a hurry to finish all that is left, but later on i´ll post a little more on him. I decided i should make the Lizzions race a part of the image as well, hehe…

Kenchan, medunecer and robert thornely, thanks for the comments. Action poses are almost ready, i still have to make the model sheet. So my coloring is still on hold. Hope i´l be able to find some time to finish it all these days. Deadline is on my tail right now, but i will respect it. Oh yeah!
