Hmm people don’t seem to want to comment on us lesser folk it seems =/ o well, work on his basemesh has begun.

#22

I think it’s a matter of the amount of updates - I’m having a totally hard time keeping up with all of them

It’s a cool concept, I particularly like the big pieces he’s using to move… the thing I’d crit are the eyeballs on the head, not quite conviced by the amount of them

#23

Big badass Slug is back, yey! Super glad you took this direction, sketch is superb. I should probably copy/paste the comment Intervain just made cause that’s exactly what happens to me. This challenge grows at such a pace that nobody can keep up, and post just get buried under tons of other posts. It’s mad. You’re by no means “lesser folk”.

About the eyes thing, i also agree, not so much on the amount but the placing of them. In that sense, I’m a big fan of the creature design in Guillermo del Toros films (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy 2) , where creatures have eyes in their hands, or wings, or all sort of unconventional places. If eyes are the window to the soul, the weirder the eye the more twisted the soul. In your character, shoulders might be a nice spot (…?) Your choice :).

#24

Thanks guys I appreciate it very much! About the eyes I love the idea of them being on his shoulder/ deltoid. I have the basemesh for his body done now so I am basing his head out atm but once I am done I will do some paint overs and post em up to see which looks better!

#25

Concepts are looking really good, but he seems to be more of an abomination than a lord if you ask me

#26

wow! nice concept and all kinds of cool ideas flowing around here… i am eager to see the next update…

#27

Looking pretty nice. I wasn’t so sure about the sketches at first, but I liked what you did with those sculpts. I’ll be keeping an eye on this.

#28

Thanks guys! I am still unsure if he will turn out as a Abomination, I did want to scult parts of him as granite with molten lava flowing through but I will see how it goes. If not I will give him some nice and rotting skin don’t worry ;). About the eyes I am still not sure but I will work that as well, the tri count right now is around 9200. Anyways here is some pics before I start blocking his form out in Zbrush!

#29

the back side looks odd to me, im not sure if i like it yet… maybe reshaping it some is in order, though it might just be the picture angle.

Also the body seems like it could lose a lot of geometry to save you some triangles… just a thought.

#30

Nice basemesh, didn’t know that the back part was open like that from looking at the sketch… anyways, i think it could be cool idea, something like he constantly excretes leaving behind a stinky trail of poisonous gases mixed with some acidic substance all over…

#31

jett12 - Yea I am still playing around with the shape of it, I am currently using the rest of my tris to model him an armor plate for the top of his back, after that I will really push the shape around and see what I can get.

namnocilis- thanks man, If he can still pass for a Demon Lord I will do magma coming from the back, with all his teeth glowing from the heat and such, otherwise its poison stiny gas =)

Here is a first pass at him, he is only at 31k polys atm(lvl3). Going to do 1 or 2 more pass’s before I pose him and continue from there. But now that his mass is blocked out I am going to go ahead and start his UV’s and get the boring shit out of the way so I can get back to the fun. Comments and Crits are welcomed, everybodys advise really helps!

#32

Sculpt is looking really good so far, keep it up!

#33

great sculpting progress

#34

ya, the sculpt is looking good… i was just wondering if that tail part could be a bit more longer as it would be much more easier to move but then since he is huge and is going to use those gaint things to move forward, may be it is fine… Good going!

#35

Wow, thats quite disturbing, abomination right? Only thing i can think of is that it looks very clumpsy, barely looks like it can move forward. Oh, maybe you’re gonna have him use the shields to drag himself forward… Man I’m kinda slow right now hehe… :stuck_out_tongue: Keep up the good work!

#36

Hey guys! Thanks all for the comments, it really helps me push forward. About him looking clumsy and his backend being short I am trying to fix that atm, This guys main purpose is pretty much to be a Immovable Object on the battlefield, His goal is pretty much to stand gaurd of a gate or protect someone or something and don’t let anything get through him. His 1 weakness is his slowness even tho he will have his huge shields/weapons to help him move along. If I go the abomination route the idea is that he is a resurrection of 2 different demon lords fused at the waste… idk haha. Next update will come tomorrow as I have some oil painting I must go do.

#37

Cooool progress so far, just keep in it!

#38

Greg, I like the idea of him eating soldiers and crapping lava. :scream: That would be a very scary ting to find in the battlefield. Being slow may not be an issue if he’s really really really big. You should throw in a human stick figure just for reference.
Good progress buddy.

#39

Greg, the sculpt is looking tight!! This is gonna be sweetah!Keep cranking!

#40

Nice work so far. I really like he anatomy and the style of the head. I was wondering if you are going to add more to the sillouette? like more spikes ,horns, tentacles or more extream variations on his body maybe? Keep up the good work
