Drawing and Painting in Flash? Help Please

And yes before anybody rips my head off I did do a search and turned up nothing.

Are there any good sites or tutorials dealing with painting in flash. I need to know specifically how to blend colors. Yes I am going through the help files in the program but thought you flash pros could help out a noob. Thanks!

Well first of all Flash is not the best tool to paint, it’s a vector based program you can’t really blend colors and paint as far I know. The only “blending” I know is the gradient tool.

Flash absolutly sucks for creating any kind of art. Your much better off creating your assets in another program like Freehand or Illustrator and then importing them into Flash.

i would have to disagree. i have created all my characters in flash and even locked down a style with the wacom:shrug:. as far as blending colors in flash, cant do it. gradients would be the best you can do. eric, have you seen some style in flash that you are trying to achive?

Thanks for your help guys.

Flash can be used to produce some amazing work. I originally asked this question because I was testing for a ad agency job where they use flash to produce character illustrations that are later animated. Anyway, I got the job and now spend a great deal of time producing work in flash. Compared to the digital and traditional painting work I normally do, the simple vector illustrations I do in flash are simple. I’d show what I do at my job but a NDA prevents me from showing work publicly. Oh well.

I was searching the web myself for a way to create a little paint program in Flash. I almost gave up after finding this thread… but a few more google links away was this game:

It does use vector graphics, which you will notice if you try painting really fast. Looks like it just tracks the mouse and creates a vector line every x amount of seconds. You will notice that you can actually achieve quite smooth arcs if you draw kinda slow… but if you move too fast, the vector lines are quite noticable…
