Drag particle follow curve ON/OFF

#1

Hi,

I want to archive some simulation as image showed. In image01, particles are floating around do turbulence or whatever, about 5 sec later as in image02, they move towards curve and follow, till the end they detach from it and drag down by gravity.

Iโ€™ve tried and looked around some similar simulations, curve flow, particle goal, curve volume. With particle goal itโ€™s really close as what I want to get but the only flaw of it is, when I turn goal weight on it was instantly dragged along the whole curve.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Bump. I also need to do this. Any help?
Thanks.

This should help you get started

Thank for the help

I tried volume curve also. It's easy to control and fast but doesn't make particle move along curve smoothly. The goal for me is to archive some kind of stylized particle movement.

I asked some other ppl and get some inspirations, blended particle goal and curve flow together to fake the simulation. Please check attached video. This is almost close but if you want add more control in between, for instance, particle move out and move in just before following curve, as shown in image, I cannot find it out. By default maya didnt provide users too much control of particles, unless you make new nodes.
