Dongle trouble

#1

My USB dongle has suddenly stopped working for me. Before I try to exchange it, I just thought I’d check and see if anyone else has had this trouble. Seems it just isn’t found by the HASP driver anymore. The red light only sometimes comes on, and then turns off after about 1 minute or so. System worked fine yesterday.

Yikes. Are you sure it isn’t a hardware problem? Could you try it out in a different USB port on your system? I’d hate for this to slow down your darktree support in any way.

:)

I already tried it on a different system. No luck.

As far as Darktree - I’ll have to point you to August again. I’m quite anxious to start on it again, but August still hasn’t been able to add the “official” shading algorithm. He asked me if he could release it under the open source, but I thought it wasn’t really worth it without their shading algorithm. Without that, it’s just what you currently have, nothing else.

I have some ideas on improving it, but as you’ve already pointed out, it’s better to get the basics working than adding cool features.

So, perhaps you can help influence August to either add the shading or give me some raw code and I’ll do it myself. (Once I get back up and running. :hmm: ) I know they’re busy with their new product coming out. They’re great guys though.

HA! I bug him constantly about it. I don’t think we will get any progress from them till after GDC though. One thing you may be able to test on your end is the crash that I get when I try and displace a darktree’s bump. Bump works just fine without displace but as soon as I enable it. . . Messiah goes “boom”.

Well, I just received some code from August that I can modify to try to make the shading match Darktree’s. Of course my dongle is still broken and I haven’t heard from pmG. Hope they monitor their customersupport@projectmessiah.com email address. So not only am I unable to animate, I can’t program either!

Hi Daniel, our customer support team is going through a transition. Once everthing is settled, someone will definately get back to you. It shouldn’t be too much longer.
